Any one have recent information on reasonable hotels for pre-cruise. We stayed at the Wyndam last night, it was okay but not great.. would like to have some shopping around to pick up last minute treats

Have you thought about trying priceline? If you haven't tried it before, please read these web sites before giving it a try: www.biddingfortravel.com and www.biddingforfun.com lots of valuable information.

I bid 3* downtown and beach zones of Ft. Lauderdale. I needed two different dates for hotels. I was awarded the Marriott Hotel and Marina for one stay for $75 and the other stay was the Radisson for $100. These prices are well below their daily rates, I am pleased with the hotel and what I have paid. These two hotel locations are perfect for what we are looking for. We can take the water taxi from both hotels to Olas Blvd. for last minute shopping and some great eating spots.

One thing to remember, on priceline, once your bid is accepted by a hotel (you won't know which hotel til your bid is accepted) you cannot change or cancel your reservation, you are basically stuck with it, but if your plans are in place, the money you can save is incredible.

Please go to the hotel boards, lots of information on hotels there as well.

Good luck.

I agree on Priceline. We bid 3* downtown and got the Renaissance. It is a beautiful hotel.

How far in advance do you usually book, are there better rates closer to check in dates or further out.. we don't sail until September 05

I'm like Mrs. B... this past weekend I bid $85 for 3*DT in late May and also got the Renaissance. A couple of days later I read in the pre/post forum that others in that same time frame got the same hotel about $20 cheaper.

It depends upon when the hotels release their inventory. I got a room through priceline for March 19th the end of September. I needed a room also for March 11th, did get my bid accepted for that date til December. Maybe something was going on, who knows. But you can start bidding now if your plans are in place. Just be aware, if you get your bid accepted by a hotel, you are stuck with it, even if your plans change and you end up canceling your cruise.

Not sure about the closer to the date you get. I got the Marriott for March 19th for $75 back in September. Got the Radisson in December (kept getting rejected) for March 11th, paid $100. Friends of ours last year didn't bid on priceline til February for a March cruise. I had my bid accepted (mid-week stay) for $52 at the Marriott, they got the Doubletree for $100, so who knows. Even at $100, I feel priceline is still a great deal.

Any info is greatly appreciated. :)

Italian Nancy, the Marriott offers a shuttle from the hotel to the pier, but not one from the airport to the hotel. The Radisson offers no shuttles. Don't worry, everything is so close in Ft. Lauderdale a cab ride is never more than $10 - $15.

I bid last July for 2 rooms for 2 nights for ur 3/27 cruise for $70 and got the Renaissance which I'm sure we will be happy with. Was trying to bid for 3 rooms in for a golf trip this month and had no luck whatsoever. I think I started too late (mid Jan.).
