What do you all think about dining solo at the Pinnacle Grill? I frequently dine alone at resturants, so I'm comfortable dining alone. Would the staff be ok with a solo diner?

Interesting. I know that hotel dining rooms have no trouble with singles, nor do chain restaurants. Some better establishments do raise an eyebrow before recovering their aplomb. Never seen a solo diner in the Pinnacle but there'd be no reason not to do so. It could, in fact, be a real kick!
Wonder if they'd charge a "single supplement?"

You are the guest, they are service employees, they should do everything reasonable to make you feel like spending more money on your next trip.
Remember, they ultimately work for you.
Enjoy

We saw a single diner in the Pinnacle during our cruise. Staff had the same attitude whether there was one diner or 8 diners. I paid particular attention to the single diner who was seated at a table for 2 next to our table and saw nothing wrong.;)

When I was on Rotterdam a couple years ago, I had dinner alone in the Pinnacle twice. Service was great, food was wonderful!

We have seen men and women eating alone at the Pinnacle Grill on different ships. Go and enjoy.

I sure hope the Amsterdam has a Pinnacle, because I am traveling solo on that ship in January. Whether or not I find someone to enjoy a dinner at the Pinnacle with, I sure plan to go. I fell in love with the Pinnacle during my Zuiderdam cruise last August and I am just licking my chops to get aboard another HAL ship and have another of those juicy prime ribs!
I have no trouble dining alone either, though it is usually much more fun with companions. I would always try to find some traveling companions interested in joining me at the Pinnacle, but I wouldn't hesitate to go alone if I had no one.

One of my fondest HAL memories took place aboard the Zuiderdam last year. I was doing a b2b, and the second half started late because of Hurricane Francis. A group of us were in the Pinnacle enjoying dinner during a rather late sailaway. We were sitting right at the window and I noticed some commotion taking place outside. So, I opened the drape and saw this guy climbing down a rope ladder with a small boat keeping up exactly with the speed of the ship. Of course, I realized we were disembarking the pilot, and I remembered thinking ... "wow! What a neat thrill excursion HAL could offer to passengers in the mood for an adreneline rush! They could make a bundle letting passengers do that!" :)

On the Zuiderdam's February 8th 4 day Bahamas cruise, I dined alone in the Pinnacle Grill and experienced excellent service and enjoyed a delicious dinner. No one "raised an eyebrow", even when I made the reservation with the Maitre d'. If you order a bottle of wine and do not finish it that evening, it can easily be transfered to the Dining Room for your Wine Steward to serve it at your request.
From observing other tables, I do think it may be possible to be asked to be seated with others, if one would wish to do so. I saw at least one table where I believe the two couples seated there did not know each other prior to that evening.
Go and enjoy the experience of the Pinnacle Grill!!

I ate by myself at the pinnacle grill and it was great. I booked it for the first night of my cruise so I didn't have to pay full price. It was $10.00 the food and service was great.

I was on the Oosterdam in November and ate alone. I got glam up and had the mind set to enjoy a great meal!
The staff was very nice. I guess my waiter told the chef that I was dining alone and the chef sent me a special dish (that was not on the menu) to enjoy :D !
I had a great time and when I take my next trip on any HAL ship that have the Pinnacle Grill, I will take advange of a great meal and service again!!
Just Go for it and enjoy yourself!!

I dined at the Pinticle on the Maasdam just recently. At first they were waiting for someone to join me but I told them I was by myself. I'm disabled so guess they assummed that when I booked I made a mistake. Once they belived me thare was no problems.
The problem I had on the Maasdam was that the guys going around for drinks kept passing me by because of my scooter or they thought that I was with someone else who already ordered. I had to go up to the bar to get a drink. I often drink diet pop and do not use a sticker. When the one waiter realized I was by myself he asked me if I wanted anything. When I ordered a pop he got it but did not come again. I think travelling by myself with a scooter was throwing them for a loop as a result service was non-existent. I was treated far better on Princess and RCCL.

We got of the O'dam around 10am this morning. Every night that we were in the Pinnacle this last week there was a single diner. The oh so professional staff at the Pinacle always made them feel most welcome .
