HAL vs. Celebrity

Hi , we have taken two cruises on HAL and are now interested a cruise to Bermuda. We are considering Celebrity and I was wondering if anyone who has cruised with both lines can compare the two cruiselines for me. I posted this on the Celebrity board and several of the posters suggested I post it here as well to hear opinions from HAL lovers.. Thank you for your help.

We have cruised with both lines and whilst we had in the past given the edge to HAL our last experience of their service was dismal and we vowed never to cruise with HAL again.
Our experience of Celebrity has not changed it is still number one with us.
So much so we have chosen this year to celebrate our 50th. wedding annivrsary with them.

We have done both cruise lines, HAL 7 times and Celebrity once (but we are going again in September on the Summit). We feel both cruise lines offer a quality cruise experience. We were on the Zenith which is an older Celebrity ship which offers fewer admendities than the newer ships. We were a little surprised that the food really wasn't that much better than other cruise line food. We had read so many comments about how good the food was on Celebrity and after experiencing it for a 2 week cruise our opinion was that it was good but not spectatular or that much better than HAL or Princess. The crew was fine and provided good service. Our room was fine and the ship was in good shape although there were occasional signs that it was an older ship but nothing dangerous.

All in all I would recommend trying Celebrity especially if they have a cruise going to a destination you want to go to at a good price.

I've cruised HAL twice and Celebrity 3 times. If you enjoy one you will probably enjoy the other. IMHO Celebrity shows a lot more class by not blaring bingo and art auction announcements all day.

Did the Veendam Jan 15, Zenith Jan 29th.

HAL ships are nicer

Service, food, entertainment about equal

Will be on the Zenith again this weekend, Veendam in Nov

If you like cruising, both are excellent choices.

After 19 cruises (7 with Celebrity and 2 with HAL) I would give the edge to Celebrity in Dining room food and service. However, the lido area of HAL does a better job as far as selection and food prep. These two lines are our favorite, and that puts Princess, RCI, NCL and the others in a distant third...,
The Zeinth is Celebrity's only small ship (they are sending the Horizon off to South America or England??) and is very comprable to the Veendam, Ryndam...,
Bottom line--You can't make a mistake with either one!!:D

(PS--most of the time, the prices are now a bit better on HAL compared to Celebrity)
