Just read about this new bare-bones cruising option.
I can't figure out why anyone would choose to pay $111 US per day for a 107 sq. ft. no-window cabin on a ship with no amenities and where you have to pay for all your meals, beverages, even clean sheets, towels, etc. With some careful shopping you could get a better bang for your buck on any of the major cruise lines, I would think.
This first edition of easyCruise One is apparently going to visit lesser known Mediterranean ports. Surely you could rent a car, stay in pensiones and do a whole lot better dollar-wise.
Then again, when I was a student I probably would have scorned the luxury and chosen to "rough it" too. NOT!!

First a couple assumptions:
1) This price does not included taxes.
2) This price does not include port charges.
So, at $111 per night, thats $777 for a week. Lets be very conservative and add $25 per day for food. We're now up to $952 for a week.
We are booked in an S suite on Zuiderdam will all its amenities and are spending $996 for the week before taxes. All the great food we care to eat and all of the great suite amenities
Wow, easyCruiseOne sounds great. I could save $6.29 per day! Woo Hoo, where do I sign up? I wonder if the bingo is expensive? Do they have buckets of beer?
Why do I suspect this ship will sink?

Apparently the line is owned by the same guy that runs "EasyJet," England's version of Southwest Airlines. maybe you at least get a free bag of peanuts on board?
(Nothing against Southwest, as I do fly them a lot).

I love Southwest:o !!! 'Specially the free r/t flight I get every year!
I don't think that "orange boat" is quite my style, but what I want to know is how Tim got an 'S' on the Zuiderdam for $996!!! Is that $996 total? Or $996 pp? If it's $996 total, email me your TA's name at the address in my signature immediately PLEASE:) !!! Taxes or not, that's one heck of a bargain!

Wow! Me too! I would love to be able to sail in a suite for that kind of money! I thought we were doing well in a plain old Verandah cabin on the Westerdam for close to that back in December.

Well to be honest, thats $996 per person for my DW, DD and myself. Adding the third person drops the price per person by quite a bit. Without her, it was still only $1100something per person. Total cost after tax and port charges was $3176 with a Pinnacle Grill upgrade, 2 bottles of wine and the $100 shipboard credit. I couldnt pass it up. The fare when we went in April for the same cabin was over $1600 per person. Since that was a group rate with the Anesthesia conference, we thought that wasnt really too bad.
I know there is a policy against promoting a particular agency on these boards, so I wont share that publically. Scour the net, there are great deals lurking out there.

Since that was a group rate with the Anesthesia conference ... Wow! I'll bet they know how to solve the unruly children issue! :D

No free food or drink on easyJet.
But it is a fairly upscale cheap airline, which flies into regular airports... The real ultra-cheap option in Europe is Ryanair, where flying to, say, "Oslo" can actually mean "someplace 100 miles away, across the Swedish border" ;) ...
Oh, yes. Ryanair no longer offer reclining seats, and instead of a safety card the safety instructions are a sticker plastered on the seat in front of you.
Incidentally, for those wondering, easyJet aircraft are not orange inside. I don't know why they decided to make the cabins on EASYCRUISE ONE orange - I think that color would keep me up at night ;) !
Also quite odd that despite the fact that all the cabins are outsides from the point of view of location, only the suites have windows. Hmm...

You certainly can't be cruising during the summer with those prices. I paid almost double that pp for July. :(

Easy Cruise is not the same as going on a cruise for certain amount of days. and everything is included.
It goes arround the Med. and you can get off and on in ports just like a train or bus.
Pay for your food just like the European ferry's.
I have been on the ferry from Germany to Norway, Tripoli to Naples and Hoek of Holland to England where you paid for even your cabin.
You could buy just the fare and sleep on a cot.

You should be okay. I'm assuming you're in the Caribbean? The worst months are August and September. We wind down in October ... althought the later in the month the better. Besides the Captains are amazing at steering clear of these things. Last year when our second hurricane was approaching we got a fabulous offer for a 5 day cruise ... I said to DH, "let's pack up and go ... avoid the darn thing altogether!".:)

But they are predicting another bad season this year!
:(
I was going to ask for your TA's name too, until you explained! We paid more than that for an SS.
