View Full Version : Damp ships?

What's all the big fuss about these damp ships? People tell me all the time about the wonderful cruises they had on a damp ship. It just doesn't sound right to me. Why is the ship damp? I don't think that I want to know the answer. I hear sometimes the toilets don't work. Maybe that is why the ships are damp. It sounds awful to me. Yet there are all these people who go time and again on these damp ships, and they get really mad if you say that you don't think you would ever want to go on a damp ship. The people that own these damp ships should be required to fix all the problems so they won't be damp any more. I can't image spending all my money just to be damp.

OK Spongerob, I think you should return to the Princess board immediately. Do not pass go, do not collect onboard credits!

Personally I think it's the fault of the Stewarts. Now, I'm a Davidson but I'm friends with a few Stewarts and they're mighty P.O.d about people spreading rumors about them, true or not.

Would that be the Cabin Stewarts or the more exalted DR Stewarts, Lane?

I am sure that the cabin stewarts would be upset to hear that we think the ship are damp ;)

a Mr. Richard Fader from Ft. Lee, New Jersey writes..

Dear Roseanne Roseannadanna,

Do you know why those cruise ships are so damp? and if you do, do you have to wipe them down with a towel? and where do i get a towel? do I bring one with me or does the cruise line give me one?

Mr Fader, you gotta get out of New Jersey!!

Gilda, we love you!! we miss you!!!

Well, all the bottoms of the ships are damp for sure ... which brings us back to the problem of rolling from the top or the bottom. For the ship's sake, I guess the damp bottoms would be better off with a bottom roller.

The real problem with the damp ships is too much "p."

I think if the plumbing problems were persued, this predicament would disaPear.

Okay, I'm an animal lover. The first thing I thought was, "gee, I hoped someone grabbed the ship's cat!"

How'd he DO that? Can you imagine the gag training film? "When approaching a bridge that does not open, drop the ship into reverse and hit the 'roll' option on the helm.":D

Returned yesterday from a fine cruise on the "Maasdamp". Although there was indeed a problem flushing some toilets, the ship was dry and comfortable.

We were lucky to have had nice weather the entire trip. It wasn't quite as warm as I would have liked, but the temperature was in the upper seventies most of the time.

Even on a quiet sea, the first two days out of Norfolk can be rough, and I can just imagine what the experience is with a raging Nor'easter out there!

A good number of cruisers on our trip (Feb. 17 to 27) had colds and coughs at the end of the ten days. If you are on the "Masdamp" reading this, be sure to keep on washing your hands and using the special hand cleaner that is placed around the ship. You may also want to try that blankety-blank machine in the casino that's stuffed with my quarters. Good Luck all, and enjoy the rest of the cruise.

....And I, too, miss Gilda.

I have never been on a damp ship but I have been in some damp weather.
However, I have been on DAM Ships like
RotterDAM, Nieuw AmsterDAM, StatenDAM, MaasDAM the old WesterDAM,
RynDAM, The VeenDAM, the ZuiderDAM, The VolenDAM.

So these ships are DAM ships--I might add damn good DAM ships--but they are not "damp" ships.
