Cost Associated with Wireless Internet

We are leaving form San Diego on March 19 for Hawaii and are getting really excited. Can anyone give us a breakdown of costs for wireless Internet access? We don't know if it is worth lugging a laptop to send a few e-mails and pictures. I think the cost will probably dictate the call.
