Thanks ladies! That was enough to whet my appetite! ;) Yonnie, I'm waiting for those who have cruised on her to post photos.
One thing I know for sure, Carol ("mamaofami") will post some after their June 11 cruise...so we can look forward to that.

I am looking at a December cruise on this ship. I found this hanging out on page 3 so I thought I would see if anyone had the photos we all are waiting for:D

LOL...I just found it on Page 3 again, too, so I'll bump it up. I don't understand why NO ONE has posted photos here of the ship post drydock...we've been asking for over three weeks!

Here are a few pictures of the MIX area. Unfortunately, they are quite dark, taken during the day, when outside lighting also was dark. These were taken on the May 7th Montreal (Quebec City) to Boston. Am collecting my thoughts to write a review. Hope this message gets through.

A few more photos. Maasdam in Quebec City. Category A cabin. Sofa is black and drapes are not blackout drapes. Carpet - dark blue with specks in this cabin - othercabins have different carpet colors. And the Maasdam in Bar Harbor - freshly painted in the traditional drak blue and white - ver striking.

Thnaks for the photos.
I'll reserve opinion on what I think of the changes until I see it for myself but I'm not happy to hear the curtains are not black out. How badly does the sun shine through in the mornings?

Thanks for those pictures. I'm not happy reading that some of the cabins didn't get new dry goods. The BA cabin I was in this winter really had badly stained carpet. Any more info you can give us about the ship would be greatly appreciated.

Wonder how that would work in the lanai cabins?

Where did you read that, Carol?
Barbara...thank you for providing some photos for us!

I may not be very popular for saying this but I think the new Mix color scheme is ghastly. It looks more like Carnival than Holland America. :( I'm glad we finally got a cruise on the Maasdam just before she went into dry dock, especially if the Mix is typical of the changes they made.

Sail, regarding sunlight, we did not have any except for Quebec and I honestly did not realized the curtains were not blackout until later in the week. You can tell there is light coming in. Maybe deluxe suites have them, hopefully.
Randyk47, I too did not particularly like the Mix colors - the lavender was nice, the green, not so. The tall backed chairs are very comfortable, the low ones not so. In the early evening, did not see too many people in the Mix - everyone seemed to be in the Ocean Bar. In the afternoons, several people were in the Mix, playing the games (I think that is what the tables are) and/or watching the TV. We usually passed through this area because the smoke from the Casino generally was pretty strong. And as someone else said re a similar renovation, the very bright lighting from the shops is not great.
I did like the bright red carpet in the MDR.

I totally agree with you...it's horrendous! I don't know what they're thinking sometimes. Not only are the colors cheesy but the fabrics look cheesy as well. Maybe someone will weigh in and tell us they look better "in person". But, from what Barbara has said, we may be dreaming!

Smoke drifting from the Casino will definitely keep us out of that area. No way I'll sit there if I have to breathe the smoke. Too bad. I had hoped we could enjoy a new area. I was willling to stay open minded but that is a 'deal killer'.

Bummer - we finally booked the Maasdam after all the raves on the boards. I hope it's not too ghastly when we get on board next year  I thought the dry dock would improve the ship

Seeing as they built new shops, I wonder if the merchandise is the same? Anyone know if they have brought in some new, fun products?

The color schemes in The Mix, although unattractive, are certainly not a deal breaker for us. However, if smoke is drifting into the Piano Bar "area" in the new layout, it will be a deal breaker for me. In January, when the door was opened from the Piano Bar bar to the Casino Bar, one could smell the smoke drifting in.
It's a beautiful ship....you won't be disappointed. Just wear sunglasses in the Mix...LOL!

It was not an issue for us on the Ryndam which has the same Mix layout as Maasdam now has...and we are very sensitive to cigarette smoke. I personally never once smelled smoke coming from the casino while sitting in Mix.

I can't yet speak for Maasdam, but speaking for Ryndam I can assure you that the colors do NOT look better in person. :(

Is this true? I thought that ALL cabins on Maasdam were getting new soft goods during the refit.

Read on a thread posted the other day by someone who took the first cruise after drydock that not all the cabins had received new carpet and dry goods.

It is unfortunate that HAL could not "enclose" the casinos on all their ships, with some sort of clear plexiglass walls, thereby eliminating all the smoke that "drifts" from them! :(

we sat in the mix on the ryndam quite a bit -- the smoke from the casino did not bother us -- in fact -- it came into the mix area

Actually, you are few days late and few dollars short because this is the same color scheme they foisted off on the Statendam. It got panned then, so not to worry about being unpopular seeing this rehashed now on the Maasdam make-over.
It was not so bad in person as we saw this purple, lime, orange combo on the Statendam, but I think I am more disappointed they did not make the Maasdam something unique, like the lovely lady Noordam who is a lot classier than her other Vista sisters.
Oh well, everything else non-tangible about the Maasdam still sounds like it is holding up in her fine, fine tradition and that is what really counts in the long run: food, service, comfort, itineraries, layout, -- decor gets pretty far down the list after those.
