Hub and I will be sailing during the final Nascar race in November. Do you know if they have a sports bar that might be showing the race? We had the choice of going to the race or going on this cruise. Hard decision but cruise won out! There's always next year for the race...

There is a Sports Bar, it is near the casino. It is small.
I don't know how the determine they shows they carry- in the past it has depended on the contract with their satellite service provider.
TIVO is a good idea.

I don't recall ever seeing NASCAR on HAL, have seen football and basketball.

Hey, I guess we aren't the average old people who sail on HAL. We like to shake up the norm...:D

I am going to bet you wouldn't be with the "average old people" (who ever the heck those people are) on your sailing, as it is across Thanksgiving. I would think that will be a young, family oriented cruise.

We were on the Maasdam in February. There was a basketball game on the TV in the sports bar and the bartender said that the Daytona 500 was not available.

The Casino Bar works as a Sports Bar and can tell you that they show a channel called ESPN 2 all the time. so it really depends on whether that channel has the NASCAR contract. We were very keen to watch the English Premiership Chelsea v Man Utd match but sadly SKY had the rights to this and we got to see a relegation battle instead.
In the cabins, there are two sports channels, ESPN and ESPN2.

About the only thing I ever see on the casino bar is soccer.

We were able to watch a Nascar race on board Amsterdam,It just happened to be a sea day,otherwise we would not have been able too.It also was in the morning as we were cruising Alaska
