It's on the website now. We are booking it tomorrow. Glad the schedule finally came out. We normally book a sky suite, but I think we are just going to book a premium balcony as I really don't think on this cruise we will spend much time in the room. Just hoping some of the airfares come down.

Thanks! I've been waiting for months. But I just went to the Celebrity website and didn't see the info. What am I doing wrong? I guess I'll keep trying. Need the schedules before we can book.

The website is being tempermental. Pick a date in 2004 then go to Price this Itinerary, in the drop down date box, you can select a 2005 date.

Not sure what to do. Prices and iternary is up for Connie for the Northern Europe crusing with ST, Petersburg, will be on Millie this summer in Europe, if I book while on cruise will get 200 shipboard credit, but if I wait will prices go up?? need advice

Just my own take on this- I'd much rather have first choice of cabin location than $200 credit. The cruise takes a big financial bite, and then to have to compromise on what cabins will be available later on this summer? Nah- I grabbed mine this morning and got the cabin of my choice.

bob278
May 27th, 2004, 03:28 PM
My suggestion is book now and get the cabin you want. Either book through a TA or give them the booking after the fact and tell them what you will be doing.

Then, when you are on a cruise, price the same ship/date. If the price is no worse, book it (any cabin will do). Then give the TA the new reservation and have him/her put the cabin you want on the booking with the credit. Then cancel the original reservation. Worst case, you might have two deposits outstanding, but you can frequently get 7-10 days before a deposit is due when you book on board.

I booked the 5/15 Barcelona to Venice tonight on CQ. Managed to snag 8045, and was surprised to find out that it is now CC? Have I missed something? However, I can confirm Cruise Junky's price - our final price was between $800-900 less than Celebrity's. How could I say "No" to such a deal?

As many will note, Concierge Class is taking over much of the "M" class real estate in 2005. Another way to increase prices without increasing prices (or at least do so in a less painful and obvious manner). It will be interesting to see if X can come up with a rationale to make Insides CC.

Thanks for the info! May does sound beautiful, but unfortunately May 2005 is our last high school graduation, so that won't work.

Two other couples and my wife and I have a hold on the July 2 Connie versus a reservation on the July 2 Jewel of the Seas. The afts were gone in an hour so we are in a 2B with enlaarged balcony (7177). Have you found any interesting offers on the web for this cruise. Right now we are booked directly with X.

Jerry: I booked directly with X last Friday morning, May 28th. I believe the Europe 2005 was released late May 27th. Being on the West Coast, I could not afford to wait with the 3 hour time difference. Made the 5:59AM call to X and was LUCKY to get 9162. Had I waited until 9AM PST, had any travel agent book the cruise and try to get the aft cabin, I know I would NOT have been successful.

As far as prices, I'll now do some research to possibly move the booking to a travel agent.

Jay and I will be celebrating our 30th anniversary on the cruise.

Hope this helps. Sorry so long to respond.

About time they released Europe 2005 - I'd been checking every day.

Last week we booked Millennium for October 25, 2005. Nothing like planning ahead! We were able to get cabikn 6144, which looks a little bigger than the other CC class cabins. I'm sure the balcony is, and that alone will be worth handing over our deposit so early.

Again, we never considered another cruise line. We took a Royal Caribbean cruise years ago. It was nice, no problems.

We have friends and also a neighbor who will only go on Princess cruises. Jay and I like Celebrity cruises. It's a good fit for us if that makes sense. Hope this helps.

Eileen,

Thanks for your comments on both threads. If we do RCCL, we intend to spend two xtra days in Paris. If we do Celebrity, the cruise is the gig entirely. On RCCL I have an aft on X if I have a 2B with xtra size balcony on port side. We had this cabin on X in the Med and enjoyed it. Our experienc eon Constellation in the Med was great, better than our numerous cruise on RCCL. However, RCCL comes with numerous C & A benefits (we are Diamond) that are worth a few hundred dollars. I have until next week to decide, I 'll let you know.

Again, thanks for the thoughts,

Hi Brenda & Jim http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well done on 6144. Isn't that the one Linda and Mark had on our TransAtlantic last May? As I remember, we spotted the whales from there.

We haven't booked for 2005 yet(lotto 649 hope you're listening). But we are leaving Oct 22 for Barcelona Mediterranean on the Millenium this year.

For those looking for 2005 Transatlantics, the closest I can figure is Constellation April 23 to May 04, Millenium May 01 to May 15 for Eastbound routes. Westbound looks like September 10 departure for the Constellation and November 6 departure for the Millenium. Are you thinking of a B2B, Brenda?

Happy cruising everybody. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hey Terry!

Long time no hear! I figured you and Doug were back on the high seas.

I can't wait to hear about your Millennium cruise - sounds like the reverse of the one we've booked.

Man, a back to back would be fabulous next October - perhaps we could convince some WooWoo's this is the cruise for them. Of course, it would involve those lottery numbers coming out in OUR favour instead of YOURS. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Not to mention, where on earth would I get that kind of vacation time? Believe me, though, that would be a fabulous month away from work.

We really should have another WooWoo chat soon. Every Wednesday, I feel like there's something I should do but I never can figure out what it is. I'm going to make an effort to drop in to the chat one of these weeks (not this week - going for a weekend trip to New York with a bunch of my girlfriends - look out, Big Apple!)

Hope to hear from you soon

Hi Brenda and Terry,

We've had cabin 6143 on Millenium. Our favorite cabin so far!!! Photo (http://www.cruise-addicts.com/picturepost/image.php/1078/balcony_6143.jpg)

We had 6136 on Transatlantic last year! Not quite as nice a cabin or balcony, and it's a connecting room so not as quiet.

We just booked 6143 on Connie British Isles and Norwegian Fjords in July 2005. Can we get Woo Woos to join us on that one?????

What nice surprises?? Can you sure. We booked a 2a for the cruise on Connie on July 30 with cabin 8161/ or should I see if 7177 is available. Now have to think about handing it to a TA or keep watching prices, so hopefully can rebook while on Millie in aug for ths shipboard credit. Also does anyone know if you are a stockholder with RCL stock do you get the shipboard credit like you do on RCL. We choose the Millie over the Jewel(enought though we heard great reports about her) is the iternary in my opinion is better, for almost the same price per diem. Norma

I will probably not turn it over until the September 7 transatlantic so that I can leverage the $200 shipboard credit while on board. 8161 is over 7177. It seems at least as big a balcony if not bigger. We went with 7177 becasue we were in it before and liked it and it was next to two other cabins with enlarged balonies for our friends (unlike, it appears, 8161). I wouldn't bother to switch for the few dollars in savings.

I am guessing surpises becasue of all the upscaling that Celebrity is doing and with Cirque swinging into fuller involvement.

Since we're on the topic of cabins, I wonder if anyone can shed some light on this:
does 7177 have bigger balcony than 7155, and 7155 bigger balcony than 7133? How can that be when the total cabin/balcony of 7133 and 7155 look the same on the deck plan? Would a deeper balcony create a narrower viewing angle( and a somewhat darker room)from inside the cabin?
What are some other choice cabins in the 2A/B categories? In 2A/B triple cabins, does the third passenger sleep in sofabed or upper berth? And where does the upper berth come out from? Thanks.

Tak,
7177 was bigger than the standard 2 series balcony and it held a lounger chair not available on the standard balcony. I thought the diagrams were proportional, but not sure. I think the ones in the catalog are better.

Stockholder Loyalty RCL and ship board credits:

YES! If you are holding at minimum 100 shares of RCL stock - you ar eligible for up to $250 in on-board credits and any RCL OR CELEBRITY ship. You should have received an updated form with stockholder voting info recently. The program was extended and is good for cruises booked no later than May 1, 2005. We used this wonderful perk ($250) on our recent Summit repo cruise SD/Pacific NW/Alaska just two weeks ago - the $250 appeared on our on-board account within 2-3 days of boarding.

While on Summit, we booked Millie for Med. May 15 - and I'll surely fill out the Shareholder Benefit for to receive ($200 - 12 day cruise) that wonderful on-board credit. Added to the $200 credit for booking while on Summit - we are good to go! Now let's see some Captain's Club discount coupons.....

Cheryl,

We did the rare Constellation Barcelona r/t last year. I think Barcelona is a great city and very easy to get from airport/hotel to pier and vice versa. If I were doing it in 2005, I would do the Brillaince becasue it to is a r/t. I am not comfortable with open jaws. That being said, I would do the itinerary that starts in Venice. Two reasons. First, the lousy part of a cruise is getting off and it will be easier to handle in Barcelona. The second is that leaving from Venice gives you a full day in Venice. This means, e.g., you can do the secret tour of the Doges Palace that cannot be scheduled the other way unless you stay over in a hotel. Essentially, it gives you more Venice options. Just my thoughts.

Thanks so much! Well, you certainly confirmed what I was wanting...to start off in Venice! I have been to Venice once and loved it, so the idea of spending additional time there, excites me!

The Brillance sounds great, but I have never sailed Celebrity and wanted to make that a priority!

Seems so far away!

Cheryl,

Excellent choice. Although we are Diamond on RCCL and will sail her again, the Connie trip to the Med was the best cruise and vacation I ever had. Our 4 friends that were with us agreed. X was great and we will be on her for the transatlantic this summer and Baltics next summer. If there was ever a choice based on intangibles that can't be wrong this one is it.

Have a great cruise.

We are doing Barcelona to Venice, felt that Venice is such a romantic beautiful city( have been there twice before Perillo tour and Grand Princess) that it would not be as great a letdown as getting off in Barcelona(which is pretty in its own right stayed 4 nights before the Grand Princess-med) but not as romantic as same feeling as Venice) We had free tickets from the promotion on AA this spring(fly twice ny to Florida fly free) so we used them to get to Paris and and back and boughtfree and open jaw ticket with airfrance paris to barcelona, venice to Paris. That for us was the best solution because thr tickets had to be used on AA planes/ not just flights(alacodes share). We are booked for Connie July 2005 for the Baltics and hope to do ?? ship of Celebrity on Fjords the year after

Cheryl,
On the assumption that you want the CC benefits, then 6144 is the clear winner. It is larger than a std 1 series (which CC is) and it has a bigger balcony. My understanding from the boards is that this (6144) is a coveted cabin. I would suggest, if you don't want to pay the significant premium for CC that you consider some of the 2 series cabins that abut the CC/1 series. For example, we are in 7177 which has 20 less square feet in the cabin, but a larger balcony. If you see in the diagram, this 2b, including balcony, is the same total length as the 1 series next to it. On the Scandavia cruise we are saving $550/pp doing this.
Good luck in the choice.

Cheryl,

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. There could't be a nicer place to spend a honeymoon than a Celebrity cruise in the Med. Excellent choice on the cabin, I know you will love it. How can they resist a honeymoon couple. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

We just lucked into 6144 on the May 15th Milli from Barcelona. Thanks to all of you who know your ships. It is the first cruise after the crossing if you have not already figured that out. We've got friends who are trying to book tonight in one of the 7173+'s too. And our best X buds in 6136. What a grand time we are going to have. I just wish there was still a direct flight from Atlanta to Barcelona. That would make it perfect. I will look forward to the roll call it should be a font of information as this sailing is booking very quickly. From what we were told the X pulled a fast one and pre booked quite a few cabins.

Congrats on booking your honeymoon cruise! How exciting! I'll make sure to fill you in on all the details when we get back.

We leave this Sunday out of Orlando. We booked our air through Celebrity and ended up with a pretty decent flight schedule. The only negative is that we leave fairly early out of Barcelona to fly back. I wish we could have arranged a post-cruise stay, but between the wedding and honeymoon David couldn't take any more time off work. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Hi Jennifer...Mrs. Newlywed! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Our June 20, 2005 cruise starts off in Venice and ends in Barcelona. We chose that for several reasons..
I have been to Venice many yrs ago and loved it! Bruce has never been. So, we plan to spend extra time there (it's so romantic), and not sure yet if we will do 1 night post cruise in Barcelona or not. All depends on flight schedules. We are using our sky miles, so won't have too much flexibility. The OTHER reason for chosing our date was due to Bruce's deadlines with his job. We are certainly VERY excited and looking forward to a full yr away! lol

YES, please take good notes!! Check out our cabin (6144) and excursions! I will look forward to hearing from you upon your safe return! Sounds like you are with a great group!! http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We are doing the Med on Millie this year in Aug, when she does her 14 day cruise that includes 3 of the Greece Islands. We are looking into booking our own excursions for ths cruise, will let you all know how our adventure turns out. We also booked the Constellation, July 30th, 2005- we did a 2a room 8161, the balcony looks bigger than the typical 2a, at least I hope so. To the poster who booked a cc class for next year for 4448, that was a great price, we are paying a little more than that for our 2a this year.

We are using *********** for our next three cruises, having been home on disability for a month, I really researched all the on-lines, rec TA from other cc(thansk again everyone), *************, etc. No one best *********** in terms of price, while I would have like to have a human to talk to, we really knew what we wanted, and what cabins, etc... For the Northern Europe next year, *********** was 1000 for the two of us off the Celebrity price and ove 250 less than the next nearest price given us. Will let you know how doc arrived etc, as our first cruise booked with them is around 6 weeks away.

I've never been in a cat. 2, but 6143 is furnished like the other cat. 1s. I believe the length is the same. We just booked this cabin on Constellation for 2005 as well. I believe that we are on the same cruise: British Isles and Norwegian fjords.

I just returned from the Baltics on the Constellation. I had Cabin 9160 right next to yours. What a wonderful cruise and great cabin. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Can you tell me more about this cabin. I have it for Sept. 7th Constellation Transatlantic.

Also, I have 6144 for August, 2005 Baltic cruise. Linda - E, I cannot access your picture, is there another way to get to it.
