When is Cruise Crtic going to fix the problems they are having here?????
I have so fed up with double posts and the worst is that the web site cannot be found when reveiwing a thread. I am normally not a complainer but... I plan on doing a Live from the Westerdam starting Saturday which will be one of the first for the Alaska season. The internet is already slow on the ship but with the CC problems it could make it impossible or cost me a whole lot more money.
Cruise Critic can you PLEASE get these problems fixed by Saturday!!!!!

Carol and Sheila, thanks so much :)
I am not a tech savvy computer nerd but I guess I just cannot understand why they cannot fix it. And why did it start to have problems. It actually had been working just fine. So they did updates to improve and it made it worse, so remove those updates and make it go back to the way it was till they can figure out what is causing the problem.
The problem is going to be when I do post and it does not go thru I will not know if it is the ships internet or Cruise Critic  The the determined person I am will keep trying rather than walk away and I will be burning up even more minutes.

I am tech savvy and know that these problems are not always easy to fix. I will offer you a "work around" for your post from Alaska.
If you email them to me, I will forward them on your behalf to CC and be sure that they are posted. If that makes sense to you post a response here and I will let you know how to proceed. Looking forward to meeting you on 10/22 on the Big O.

Luckily I am one that writes my report off line and in the past have had to post a couple of reports at one time.

This slowness issue has been going on for over a month. I was gone 10 days and hoped it would be corrected by the time I got back. Didn't happen. I too enjoy Lisa's Live From posts and hope somehow they will appear here next week.

Lisa, I feel your pain. I'm leaving on Enchantment of the Seas tomorrow and have been having the same concerns.
Really hope it's fixed before July 12.

I'm a professional website designer, and you can be assured that the problem could be caused by many things, and some are not easy to fix. But what's inexcusable to me is the lack of communication from CC management. Why not post something under "Notices" at the top of each page that tells the visitors what CC management knows about the poor response time, what they're doing about it, and, if possible, an approximate time it will be fixed. At least this way you would get the feeling that someone is addressing the problem....
BTW, have a GREAT trip Lisa....:)

We always enjoy your Live From reports, Lisa.
I've never done one, and I can't imagine myself even thinking of doing one the way Cruise Critic is now. Even if I could get through, I'd be wondering if anyone would be able to read it anyway.

These problems have been going on for months for me. Trip Advisor works fast as lightning for me, so I know it is not my computer. Once CC began working on the problems they go worse. They are better again, but still have a long way to go to reach the speed of TA.

I've been on this board for 9 years and problems come and go, sometimes worse than others, but there has never really been a permanent fix. Actually this time is not the worst its ever been. Let someone else describe the White Screen of Death which I think we called it.

School is getting out around the country, maybe they can find some highschool kids to fix it for them. That's what I do when I have more problems than I can solve with my computer. :)
Enjoy your cruise, and we could allow you some time to do so even if your "live from" are after the fact.

Just tried to respond to this thread -- went off and read 3 other sites on different 'tabs' and did links from them before I could get to respond here. Definitely a capacity or throughput problem with the ISP that is used for the access

I'm very excited to hear what you have to say about the Westerdam to Alaska. We are headed there shortly on the Westerdam as well. If you are able I'd love to hear what is on the menus.

The issue has seemed isolated to the HAL forum for me. I was reading a Celebrity forum here earlier today and it wasn't slow. Maybe they have something against HAL LOL (j/k)

Looking forward to reading your Live From thread, Lisa! On the whole, we had great speed while aboard the Zuiderdam, but the continuing Cruise Critic problems were very frustrating and caused a change in plans as to what we did and how we did it.
BTW, in case you didn't know it, be sure to tell the internet manager if you add a new package of minutes after the initial one - got 30 additional minutes free each time I added another 250. Every little bit helps!

Stangely enough, as Australia tends to be The Land of the Slow Internet, not having any problems here. Did a few weeks ago, but has been fine since!

Well it does appear that CC is working much better today, or at least not nearly as slow or non responsive.
So I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will remain this way :)
Looking forward to your live post from the Westerdam. Could you let us know how long Joel Mason will be on the ship. Thanks
I talk with Joel via Facebook and I believe he will be on the Westerdam most of the summer but I will ask him exactly and will try to remember to post it.

And that we can directly attribute to the problems with CC? Not warmer weather getting more of us outdoors and away from the computer? :D

Says someone from FL. ;) Here & in Northern U.S. it was quite a cold winter so getting outside is long overdue for lots of folks.
What's the comparison to the same time period 2010, just out of curiosity? Is there the same drop off every spring?
