We were thinking of booking the last night of our cruise on the Zuiderdam. Is this a good idea? I wondered if service was not as good or if the food was not as good on the last night of the cruise.

I hope so because my brother and I have reservations there for our last night on the Zuiderdam next month.

Isn't the last night 'surf and turf' night?

Every night is a good night in the Pinnacle Grill. You wont be disappointed. We ate there on our last night. It was us (dw and I) and one other table with 6 at it. Service and food were top notch.

Kinda depends -
If you grow to enjoy the company of your tablemates, it can be a letdown not being there with them for the last dinner aboard ship.
If, on the other hand, you are dining with your own party all week and are planning on enjoying the Pinnacle together, I cannot think of a better way to end a cruise as it's the perfect venue for a final-night dinner party.

We ate in the Pinnacle on the last night of our recent cruise and the food was just as good as it had been the night before!:)
We hadn't planned on eating there two nights in a row, it just worked out that way. But it sure was good. It helps that we had a table for 2 in the DR, so no need to feel guilty about disappointing our table mates.

Dining in the Pinnacle on the last night of the cruise is a very good idea. The food and service there won't vary during the cruise. Where it WILL vary is in the main dining room. The last night of the cruise in the main dining room will NOT be the highlight, as far as food goes. The better menus are on the two formal nights, and the last night of the cruise is not formal. So, go to the Pinnacle on the last night. If you choose to tip your servers in the main dining room, you can do it on the next-to-last night of the cruise.
Have fun!

Can I ask what the Pinnacle is? Is it a speciality dining room?

This article (http://www.cruisegourmet.com/site_pages/v4_issue_2/features/features_main.html) explains it much better than I can...
