I am sailing on the Zaandam - Western Carribean. Does anyone know which day Dutch lunch is usually scheduled on this sailing? I know it is normally on a port day. I always seem to have a shore excursion scheduled on the same day as Dutch lunch and miss it. Thank you for your help.

You asked this once before, and it was answered, I do believe. Yep, here it is (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=137251).

There is no such thing as a "Dutch lunch." There used to be (and still is, ovvasionally on long cruises) a "Dutch night" in the dining room. THere's also the Royal Dutch Tea served one afternoon, also in the dining room (around 3). It will be announced in the dadily program.

I saw the question in your link, but it was not answered.

There are times when there will be some Indonesian dishes at lunch....Indnonesian cuisine being very popular in Holland. I don't think there is ever a definite pattern to which cruises will have it or what day. It may only be on cruises of ten days or more.

I don't remember if they still offer the tiny Dutch dessert pancakes being 'made to order' by a Chef while we watch. I've seen it offered so many times but it has never but a favorite of mine so I can't say if I've seen it on recent cruises or not. I think it was offered on our ten day Rotterdam cruise to Panama Canal in March but not on our seven day Maasdam cruises. Our twelve day Veendam in January....I don't recall.

Yes, I know I already asked this question but I didn't think it really got answered. There was a Dutch lunch on my Eastern Carribean cruise aboard the Zaandam in 2003 and on my Alaska cruise in 2001. This was not an Indonesian lunch but a Dutch lunch with the little pancakes and much more. Having lived in the Netherlands as a child, this is something I greatly look forward to.

What specific dishes are you looking for in Lido vs. Dutch night in the dining room?

I am looking for the little pancakes (which I can pronounce but not spell).

Sorry....which I could have more clear about the last time we saw trhem serve the tiny pancakes but I just don't remember. I am almost sure they were served on Rotterdam in March....a year ago on our Panama Canal cruise.
