Can anyone tell me how close these two are and what is the best way of getting there? Thanks.

I cruised out of Norfolk Oct 31 of last year. I would say it is about 20 minutes or so. We used a shuttle van, and it was about $15 or $20 pp.
Or you could catch a taxi. Are you flying in the day of, or before. We flew in a day before and stayed at the Marriott Waterside.

The best way would be taxie. You might check with your cruise line and see if they have a shuttle. You could take a bus, however, that would be not pleasant. I live in Va Beach right next to Norfolk and I am cruising out of Ft. Lauderdale 3/5. It was cheaper for me to do that than cruise out of Norfolk. Fo Figure. Have a great cruise and if you get there early enough check out Waterside. Lot's of restaurants and some shopping on the Elizabeth River.

I have learned it is worth the extra few dollars to use my own transportation, much quicker and less hassle. I have also learned when disembarking to use a porter. Get a porter, he takes care of everything, wisks you by everyone, straight to the taxi stands, in you go, and it is so simple!!!! Again, worth the tip.

Thanks everyone for your responses! :) I am planning (hopefully) to sail on the December 27th Maasdam sailing (Southern Caribbean) and am getting excited already. Prior plans to sail on the Zaandam have been changed due to my school board changing the Christmas Break this year but hey, what's a 7 day cruise when you can sail for 11 right??! ;)

Thanks for the recommendation of the Marriot Waterside as well. I am thinking of flying in a day early and maybe even staying an extra day at the end of the cruise as well. :)
