DH and I will be on the Voyager next April for a Med. cruise. We have never been on Regent before and are traveling with a small private group. We have decided on a Penthouse B and would appreciate advice on 821 vs 861.

Based on my research on these boards, it appears that 861 gets good marks because of its proximity to the laundry room. Proximity to the laundry room is not that important to us as we do not have mobility issues and a few wrinkles don't bother us too much.

Personally, I am interested in 821 because (a) the balcony does not abut the neighbor's balcony so I am assuming it is a tad more private and (b) the Voyager vibration discussions have steered me to conclude that farther forward is better. BUT, 821 appears to be close to the atrium. Is 821's proximity to the atrium a problem, ie, noisy? And are there any other considerations that you can share?

This board is terrific and I appreciate all the helpful info.

We have been in 723--no noise issues at all.

AWED23, thanks for the feedback. But at the risk of appearing dense, why is it a good thing? I have only cruised on a big ship before, so my points of comparison are likely not relevant. But my recollection of the area around the elevators is quite unpleasant...a mob scene.

You're up a bunch of decks from the actual bottom of the atrium, for one thing. And your stateroom is around the corner of the forward elevators, which is quite a quiet corridor really, not a bustling place at all. There is very little bustle at all on Voyager.

Like Belltown, next year we are taking our first cruise with Regent and we have booked cabin 960, which appears to be very close to Belltowns choice, hopefully this will be nice and quiet, but noticed we have adjoining balconies, my question is, do people smoke on the balcony, or is this banned, also is the cabin we chose quiet?
Thanks
Marion and Kerry

Regent policy is no smoking on balconies or in suites. You will be quite surprised, I believe, how quiet the suites are.

BTW,960 is at the other end of voyager from Belltown's choice of 821 as I read the deck plan.

Spent 70 nights of the Discovery Collection in 821 and found it quite nice. You are correct about the balcony being private with no ability for neighbors to look in... one of the reasons we chose it... and we were happy we did. The cabin entrance is also more private with few neighboring doors nearby.

Proximity to the atrium and elevators was more of an asset than liability. Didn't notice any higher levels of noise except when they did music events (the Beatles concert) directly below. In fact, the only downside to 821 was the distance to guest laundry - something you may not worry about.

Enjoy!

Good morning TPAtravelfan. Thank you for sharing your experience in 821 and confirming that there isn't a noise problem. And I hadn't thought about the entrance itself being more private, which is nice also.
