Our ship will be in Cannes and we would like to enjoy a long, leisurely day
in Eze and St Paul. If anyone has utilized a pvt car/driver, we would
appreicate the recommendation. We do not require a guide.
We also plan to enjoy a leisurely, possibly upscale lunch in a restaurant with a view...so if you have any recommendations for this, we would also appreciate these.
Since our ship remains in port overnight, we do not need either to rush off the ship nor rush our return.
Thank you.

We used Sylvie di Cristo. She is a licensed guide. She picked up 4 of us for a day's tour of Antibes, Cagnes Sur Mer and St. Paul de Vence. The charge for 4 in a mini-van was 130 euros pp. She is very flexible and will design any tour you may wish. She was well worth the money.

I am renting a car for my day in Cannes. Can you please tell me the name of the restaurant in Gourdon you recommend? I just looked up this town and it does look very charming, something different to do. Thank you.

Last summer we used Revelation Tours while we were in port at Cannes.
Website: http://www.revelation-tours.com/
We met folks on our roll call to share the excursion with; there were 7 of us all together.
Our driver met us at the port and we went to Monte Carlo, Nice, Eze, and Saint Paul de Vence. We ate lunch at a nice cafe in Saint Paul.
It was a perfect day, and our driver/guide was punctual, professional and knowledgeable. I would recommend them to anyone.
Whatever you choose, enjoy your visit to the Cote d' Azur. It is beautiful.

"le nid d'aigle" it 's the name it's the most beautiful because it's a big home built on pick rock and you have a wonderful view from here"
" l'auberge de Gourdon" more simple but very good with south french speciality it s a the entrance of the village on the left just before the parking
there is another inside the village ( sorry i don't remember the name ) at the end of the village you 'll have a little market place the restaurant is on the left there is a big terrace
when will you be in Cannes ???

I will be in Cannes August 1st. My original plan was to go to St. Paul de Vence then Antibes to have lunch and walk around. If I don't go to Antibes, I can start off my day in St. Paul de Vence, then Gourdon for lunch, and if we have time afterwords we can stop in Grasse. We have been to St. Paul de Vence before and would like to go back to this beautiful place. I have to decide which itinerary is better for us. To see Gourdan it's a lot more driving. Is Grasse worth seeing if I'm not into perfume? What is that town like? Thank you for all your help. It's nice to have a "native" on these boards to give first hand information.

hello bonnieg
i recommand you this: first take a small car with GPS ( road are narrow here, and parking not easy)
second: wake up early take your car, and go to Antibes by the road beach , ( we will have a wonderfull view from Cannes and the bay by this way ) cross Juan les pins (no need to stop it's very touristic and crowdy at night ) and stop to the " rampart" in Antibes Park your car and have a little walk on them ( in fact it's a wall all arounc the old city of Antibes) go inside the old city it's really cute
take your car back and continue until the swimming pool of Antibes ( it's very known just ask where it is ) from here you follow the hightway signs to go back to cannes ( it will be quicker this wayt)
DO THIS IN THE MORNING TIME!!!! it ' s quiet because after it s very crowdy and traffic is very heavy in august ( tourist goes to the beach in the afternoon)
when you arrive in Cannes by the speedway ( you have to pay twice 1euros to take it in Antibes and we get out but i don't remember how much must be O;90euros ) you will arrive up to Cannes just take the speedway to go to Grasse it s free and very fast : get out at " Grasse sud" you will take the road for Grasse and after Gourdon ( it s why i recommand the GPS in the car it's very easy to follow You can eat on GOURDON the village is really cute and small
to go back to Cannes take the normal way you will drive throught some little village (Mouans Sartoux by example) they are very nice to see :)

Two years ago we used Sylvie, and she was terrific in all regards.
As for the lunch, she charmed her way into getting us into Colombe D'Or in St. Paul de Vence even though we didn't have a reservation. The restaurant happened to be featured in an article this week in "US" magazine, showing Leo Di Caprio and Blake Lively having lunch.
The outdoor courtyard was too beautiful for words. The food was delicious, and it was one of the most wonderful days of our cruise. It is definitely upscale, and no doubt worth it.
The hotel itself , has an incredible display of artwork. You can go on the webist it if you like : http://www.la-colombe-dor.com/indexEN.html
I know they do take reservations.

Pobulus, Thank you for all your suggestions. We'll see what time we get on the road then plan accordingly. We have to tender in then have quite a walk to Sixt car rental.
Peteymil, Colombe D'or has been highly recommended to me and I was hoping to eat there on my upcoming trip. Unfortunately the reviews on tripadvisor have been very negative lately. It's a shame because it's such a beautiful restaurant with fabulous artwork and views.

you're welcome Bonnieg if you need more informations please ask
your car rental is between "grand hotel" and "Martinez hotel"
depends where you're disembarking from the tender it can be short or a little bit longer
the only advice i can give you it's going to the back country if you really want to see something different The beach way and town are very touristic ( restaurant , shops, beaches etc....)
i agree with you "La colombe" d'or is not what it was used to be before

Hi Frances,
We are mostly familiar with these ports and have set up our travel pans in advance. Hopefully, someoe else will be able to join you. Later today I'll check your M&M and let you know if you didn't succeed.........all of those sites for advance bookings, roll call, etc can get confusing. Paula
