Hey, if this helps the CC boards run faster and better - I'm all for it. This site is just too popular.

How is it we have 57 views on this new part 2 and just two posts????

We're off to Florida in the wee hours of the morning! We are so excited! Joanne...you know how much I LOVE the Beach!

Why is it that it takes so much work to get ready to go on vacation? All the planning and list making! Paying all your bills in advance! Cleaning your house! Go to the bank!

We are so ready for a break...I'm up way too late....I've got to help Rick drive tomorrow, so I'm going to scoot off here!

We finally got our new tree planted yesterday! My flowers look so pretty this year...I planted some perennials...took out some holly berry bushes, that were spindley! They looked really bad!

I mowed grass this morning...did all the trim for my house and my sister's house, then Rick rode the riding mower for both yards, when he got home from work today!

Don't know how much I'll be posting in the next 2 weeks, but I'll post some pix when I get back...will probably be posting on Facebook!

Rev...praying your back is better!

Love all you girls!

Merry - You should be on the road right now and I wish you both a most wonderful vacation. I'm ready for another road trip - we love them. You are so right that it is a lot of work just to plan and get ready for these trips.

Hope all is well with everyone!

Friends,

Well we have been busy, with Sarah's move and Pat's house and me leaving for a month, oh my goodness.
I leave in 6 days for Fort Pierce, and I depart on the Freedom one week from today.
Thank you Merry for your wonderful prayers. I am participially walking right now, and hope to continue healing again. It will be a lot easier for me on this up coming trip if I can stay on my feet for about two minutes, and I am almost there.

I see we got a new thread, how nice.

Hope everyone is well.

Merry - so glad you are able to get away. Did not realize you were going for 2 weeks. I don't know which is worse: packing to go or unpacking when you get pack. Have a wonderful and relaxing time. We go to the beach June 25th.

Nice to see that we are still able to keep the thread going--I was afraid that after a while, CC would tell us we had to stop posting.

Rev, good luck with the house closings and I hope that you heal soon.

Joanne, enjoy your holiday at the beach! Are you still in school?

Gail, I hope you have some fun activities planned for the summer.

Merry, have a wonderful time on your road trip! I do wish that we could meet somewhere if you're anywhere near me on your travels.

Linda, I hope that you have recovered from your surgery and that life is treating you well.

I'm teaching one class this summer--quite a switch from six this past spring! I'm sure I will still be busy; I've already given students their first quiz. :)

Take care, everyone--I'm going to try to post more often since I'm not quite as busy as I was in the spring. We are planning a long weekend trip to Tallahassee sometime, but that will be the extent of our travels this summer I think. With only one class I'm not getting paid as much, so I have to save as much as I can. But I am grateful for that one class!

So why do we have a new thread?? I guess I have been gone too long and missed something. I just got back from New Orleans and Omaha. New Orleans was wonderful. Ed and I got to spend time in the French Quarter. We had our fortunes read, took a historical buggy ride, ate lots of good places, took a trolley car ride into the Garden District. It was hot and muggy. We were there as part of the Great Comebacks award that I was given. All four awardees were brought in for a fun weekend of celebration. Then I was off to Omaha to present at a conference. Now I am home and ready to relax and recover. Wish I was traveling with Merry though. I am still lamenting having to cancel our Italy trip this spring.

Linda,
Cruise critic is trying to clean up it's site, they feel that all these long posts may be contributing to the problem with the slowness of the site, so they are deleting them and giving us this new place to post. It's fine with me, but I wish I had retrived some of my old stuff, but am also glad that the site is faster now.

Merry,
I will be in the Cocoa beach area on June 26th, then I am driving to Sanford and staying until the 28th, so if that is anywhere near you, we could meet somewhere. If not have a wonderful stay in Florida and enjoy, you and Rick deserve it, you both work so hard.

Pat's house is still being worked on. When I left they were just finishing up with the swimming pool. There is stil a lot of work to be done.

I just realized I have run out of minutes and am paying full price for them. So I'll be logging off right now and will comeback when my minutes are cheaper.

Have a great day.

Much better, now I'm only paying 30 cents a minute.

Pat's house. The counters in the kitchen as well as the sink, stove and dishwasher (all brand new, the refrigerator was pretty new when we bought the house), went in on Friday. You should see the countertop, all black with mirror imbedded, it looks like a dark sky with twinkling stars. It's a quartz compound and it is really striking. The tile work was also completed, so the kitchen is almost finished.
The second bathroom is complete and all the closets in the home have been done, as we wanted to rework the closet space, (shelves etc.) to make more efficient use of the space.
As I said before the pool has been coated with diamond bright, LED mood lights have been added, as well as a stair railing, and the whole pool has been converted to salt water.
The celling fans are all in as are all the light fixtures, etc. so we are past the middle.
My home will be getting a glass door for my master bedroom and two beautiful glass French doors to close of the den from the rest of the house. Also my furniture will be getting a black enameal finish, but only on the tops, the rest of the each piece will remain golden oak. Black and silver knobs and handles will be added, it will really look beautiful.
There is a lot of work the contractor can't finish until I return, but it will all be completed before August I am sure.

Right now I am on day four of my fantastic trip. We are in Hatti, at Royal Caribbean's private beach. I am not getting off the ship today, as there is only me and I don't want to rent an entire cabana, for just one little old person.
I am walking OK, but can't walk for a long time. Sometimes it is like I don't have a walking problem and other times I look like an old lady hobbling around. This problem is really strange. Perhaps when I loose all the weight I want to loose it will be better.

We boarded the ship in Port Canaveral, which is slowly becoming a large Floridian port. The Disney Dream departs from here and also one or two Carnival ships. The port is easy to get to, and the process of embarking is quite painless and relatively fast. I was on the ship at about 11:15. Cabins on Royal Caribbean are not ready until 1:00PM, so I busied myself with making special dinning reservations at the two wonderful restaurants they have on board. Then I went to the Promernard to get a bite to eat and read for a while. I am reading the new book about Sarah Palin, called "Blind Ambition", which I am sure she will have plenty to say about. It's really insiteful, and very interesting, to see how she rain her campaigne.
Later I visited the Schooner bar for my triditional drink to celebrate my beginning a cruise. By that time the cabins were open so I ventured up to deck nine and found my cabin. This time I have a junior suite, which is similar to but larger than a Princess mini suite. It has a lovely walk in closet and a very nice sitting area with a lounge chair as well as a couch. Right away I thought a nap was in order and I rested for about an hour. Then my luggage arrived and I spent the next twenty minutes unpacking and putting everything in it's proper place.
Then came the drill and after that I went up stairs to the diamond lounge to meet Willie, one of my favorite concierges. He is usually in the Concierge lounge, but is just recently back from vacation, so I guess they put him up here for a while. I greatly prefere the CL to the diamond lounge, as it is much warmer, and I think friendlier, but this will have to do, as it was I had a bad experience with the concierge in the CL when I went there yesterday to ask one simple question, so I will stay up stairs in the diamond lounge.
After having my evening cocktail I proceeded to dinner at Chops grill. I had the mushroom soup, a very small portion, a lamb chop and a half of a chicken sausage, plus asparagrass, all delicious. I happened to sit next to this couple and they started talking to me. About mid dinner, the man started to get very rude, I was appauled, and told him that I wished to end our conversation, but he kept on. I finished my dinner quickly and left. So unfortunate, but sometimes people drink too much, and things come out that should not. His partner was appaulded.
You know me, not much for the night life, so I retired to my cabin, had a nice warm bath and went to bed.
Monday I was up early and went to the diamond lounge for breakfast. Had some wonderful fruit and some cheese and turkey slices. It was very good. Had a nice conversation with Willie, posted on the computer a little, and then left for the meet and mingle party upstairs at the Viking Lounge. Meet some really nice people there, then I went outside to see the outdoor movie screen that was pool side, sports were playing on it so I didn't stay, instead I went gambling and won 11 dollars. I hadn't won anything in a little while so I decided to quit while I was ahead.
Went to lunch in the dinning room and met Gerri, a lovely lady whom I had met at the hotel Sunday. She was having a great cruise.
Later I went to the jewlery shop to see if they had my penent they did not, so I went window shopping for a while then up for my nap, after reading a while. Very low key traveling here.
I was invited to dinner with the hotel manager, so I went to that, and it was grand. The food was wonderful, even though I ate very little, and the conversation with a lady from guest relations was marvelous.
Back to my room for a nice bath, a good movie, a short read and finally bed...I love my bed.
Today I have done nothing except visit Willie, chat with a few people and post on cruise critic. I will be doing some reserch soon, so I hope to accomplish something today.
Joanne, it's almost over and you will be free to go to the beach.
Have a great day.

Hi Girls!
We are back home...had a wonderful vacation...stayed at a beautiful little cottage in Indian Rocks Beach...had a pool...walking distance to wonderful Seafood Restaurants...ate seafood every night...delicious! There were 2 small cottages and 6 bigger houses or suites. They offered a washer/dryer/detergent to us, which was nice to leave with clean clothes! They had 2 canoes that you could take out into the ocean....Rick did that a couple of times! Had all kinds of floats, noodles, buckets, beach towels...it couldn't have been nicer. We had a full kitchen, which we fixed scrambled eggs in the mornings along with coffee and donuts...LOL! We would love to go back!

It was VERY hot and we were in the ocean a lot...I have to say, it was my first trip on the Gulfside, and I LOVED it! One day we stayed in the ocean for 5 hours...it was so fun! We saw 2 manatees and Rick got to pet the one....I couldn't get to it fast enough...they are beautiful animals!

We had a very relaxing vacation, which we both needed. We did travel up to Clearwater and down to Madeira Beach...both were fun!

We left Florida last Saturday and drove to Pigeon Forge, Tennesse, to break up our trip...we had lots of fun there too...drove up into the Great Smoky Mountains...so nice and cool up there...took a little hike...brought back lots of Taffy for everyone! We also got to visit Rick's Mom, who lives in Knoxville, about 45 minutes away.

Joanne...I can't believe you're in School this late....you are really going to http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v404/merry384/Patriotic/File-2.gif the Beach!

Now we are home, and I'm going to work at Church on Wednesday to catch up...that means I'm up way to late...so gotta scoot!

Elisa...enjoy your class this summer and don't forget to take a little time for yourself...you are really doing great with your jewelry!

Linda...sounds like you are feeling much better and enjoying your trips!

Gail...how are things going in your Kitchen? You'll have to post pictures!

Rev....I love reading your posts about your Cruise! You should write a book!

Rev - I too love reading about your cruise. I don't think I would like cruising all by myself - but I know you do. I think all your houses will be finished before my kitchen will be completed.

My new counters go in on Friday and the old one goes tomorrow. Won't be able to use the sink or counter all weekend. We have a wedding on Sat and BBQ at son's on Sunday so I won't have to cook.

What a stressful and scary week I've had. This kitchen project has been continued stress since it is taking so long and lots of problems........

Then this weekend my 10 yr old granddaughter was sent to the hospital. She had a bite on her chin that became infected and her face started to swell and a rash appeared and she couldn't eat. Turned out she had a staff infection that is MRSA and she's been in the hospital since then with IVs and many blood tests - very serious case. We hope she can go home tomorrow. If she does she'll have to have the IV with her - not sure how that works - must be portable? We're hoping they don't have to cut and drain since they would do it from inside the chin as not to scar her face. Good news is she is feeling better.

Hi all,
Sounds like everyone is enjoying the summer. We are off to the Adirondacks next week for a week. All the kids will be there for Ed's 60th birthday. It was a surprise for him. I rented a house on the water that sleeps 15 so my brother and SIL are coming as well.
I am so sorry that our old posts were deleted. I had wanted to copy some of the pictures of all of us on the ship. I thought I could go back at some point this summer and get them all....sigh!!!
This week I will be busy getting ready for our trip. I am recovering well from the surgery but am still sore and tired.
Ed and I want to take another cruise this spring either the first week of January or mid-March on my spring break. We have only cruised Princess and Celebrity lately so wondered if any of you had suggestions about specific ships or cruise lines we should consider. We loved the Aqua class on Celebrity this past January but there are so many ships right now it is a little overwhelming. Hope all is well.

First may I wish all the fathers out there a happy father's day.
Gail I am so glad everything is mending medically, with your grand child. Now for the kitchen project. Sometimes they can be a bear!
Linda and Merry glad to hear your vactions were so wonderful, don't you wish they could last forever.
Joanne and Gail, It's funny what your do when you have to. I was trained well by my husband. He knew he would be dying and always insist I go on cruises. He wanted me to get used to being alone. It was a little difficult at first, I must admit, and now even sometimes I get misty, but I just know that that is part of life. Most of the time I am having a great time. We all miss our soul mates when they pass, it's not easy, but with the help of the Lord and a good attitude, wonderful things can happened.
Elisa nice to hear from you.
We would like your prayers, Sarah is in the hospital right now, we do not think that she is going to carry this baby and it may have to be taken. She is not yet five months pregnant, so it is not looking good. Thank you in advance for your wonderful prayers.
Also Sarah's a/c broke down and needed to be totally replaced. Bad luck there. So to the tune of 12,000 dollars it is now working again. Wow.
Pat's house is coming right along. No worries there.
I am going to have her e-mail me now for the rest of the trip, so we can keep in touch while I cruise.
This is turn around day for me on the Freedom, so now we are on cruise two of this wonderful trip.
Have a wonderful day ladies.

Linda, in the weekly email update I get for our thread, the post that Laura S. did in our old thread said:

Things to remember:
- Your post counts will remain the same.
- This original thread is closed, but currently live and accessible on this forum.

So, while we can't add new posts to that old thread, we can still access it. Did you have the old thread bookmarked? If not, I can send you the link, I think. You should still be able to go to it and copy/paste the pictures you want. I would do it relatively soon, though, just in case they decide to take the old thread off the site.

Joanne, prayers for your cousin and for all of her/your family.

Rev, prayers for Sarah and the baby.

Gail, I hope that your granddaughter is healing.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! *HUGS* to all.

Hi Girls!
Rev...praying for Sarah and the baby! Enjoy your Cruise!
Joanne...can't wait to hear about the Beach! I want to go back!
Elisa...I started knitting a really neat baby blanket on Saturday, at knitting...it's called Radiating Star Blanket...check it out! It's very easy!

Gail...how is your granddaughter doing? Praying!

Linda...what a busy summer for you! Happy Birthday to Ed!

Had a very busy week last week...got lots of things cleaned out at Church in our very old files...took them to the Bank to shred...about 23 years worth...LOL!

I've been mowing both of our yards (sister next door), since she was finishing up the School year! I do the trimming...Rick does the riding mower! Still takes time and lots of sweat!

I LOVE my flowers this year...so pretty...we've had such nice rain and they are lookin' good!

Last Friday, my sister and I went Black Raspberry Picking! LOL! I wanted to pick enough that I could bake a pie a month, because we just LOVE Black Raspberry Pie! So, Jean and I picked about 22 lbs. worth...enough for 15 pies!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v404/merry384/131530867_photobucket_76205_.jpg
Can you beleive that? The picture above is of the berries that I picked...my sister picked another large box of them! We got rained on...sat in the car until it passed and back out in the field we went...lol! That's not all...we both were in agony with our backs and legs....are we getting old, or what? I'm feeling much better today...I kinda overdid it last week with all the physical stuff!

Elisa...I finished Luigi for Jaden, and I'm going to enter him in the Warren County Fair, along with my Noah's Ark Blanket...can't wait! Poor Jaden...I gave Luigi to him on Friday night for his Birthday, then I asked him if I could keep him to put him in the Fair...LOL! He was a good sport!

Hi, everyone! Happy 4th of July weekend!

We're on a mini-vacation, relaxing in Tallahassee. Thanks for the knitting pattern, Merry--I might make it for my husband's nephew and his wife 'cause they have a new baby girl (their first child).

We stayed up way too late last night (were late leaving home so didn't get to bed until after midnight), so it's bedtime for me. I just wanted to pop in and say hello!

Happy Fourth of July Weekend dear friends,

I'm on the good old Enchantment of the Seas again. She really looks great.
Had a wonderful time on the Auto train, met such fasinating people.
Then when I arrived in Lawton, it was an easy on to 95 and my drive to Baltimore begain. Needless to say it did not stay easy. There were a whole lot of turns ahead of me and I don't own a GPS, so naturally I missed turn number one, got off to correct and found myself in the middle of DC. Then I went into this trance. I ran into the captial, Lincoln memorial, etc. and I was in awe. Tears were running down my face I was just over come by this wonderful country. All these buildings and places I had only seen in books and on TV and here I was in our nations captial. I was over whelmed. I finally came to my senses and realized if I kept this up I would still be riding around DC at midnight and I had to get to my hotel. So I prayed about it and asked the Lord to guide me. Up cropped Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. I turn on it, knowing it went some where and then there was this park, so I turned into the park, and went through it, I ended up on this road and there right in front of me was the road I was to get on after I made all those turns I messed up on the writen directions. So I turned onto the Washington - Baltimore Freeway and in 40 minutes I was pulling into my hotel. What an adventure.
I have to come back to Baltimore, it is a fantastic city. I had lunch at Sabastin's and then Thursday morning I went to the pier. It was a kinda old looking terminal, but it was functional, and everyone was friendly. So I got on the ship in about a half hour.
Now we are on day three of my voyage. We are still at sea, and tomorrow afternoon we arrive in San Juan. It has been really nice.
Some sad news, Sarah, lost the baby after five months. We were all very sad. It happened a week ago.
I booked Pat on the back to back on Oasis with me this September, because she needs a cruise after all this. So I am sad about the baby, but greatful that I am able to take Pat on this cruise with me. It will be something she will have to look forward to.
Better go now girls. I'll be reading all your posts, as I have not as of yet.
Have a great day.

If anyone has copies of the pictures of all of us on the ship, could you send me some? I had wanted to save them but now they are deleted. Also.... those of you who are regular cruisers. ( Rev and Gail) any suggestions on ships?
Where do you want to go and what do you want to do???
My best suggestion is get a TR that you can trust to really search for the best prices for you. There are bargins galore, if you hit it right.

Merry, I'm knitting another baby blanket for a shower that will be in a couple of weeks.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! *HUGS* to all.

Elisa
Hi Elisa,
I don't have our old discussions bookmarked so can you send me the link? I am just getting back online since we have been on vacation in the Adirondacks until this morning. Then we had to rush off to a wedding. It is good to be able to relax right now even though I have not yet finished unpacking. My puppy is home from the kennel snuggling right next to me. I know I am glad to have him home. Thanks for your help.

Oh my - I haven't posted in so long. First, thank you for all the well wishes for Paige. She's finally back to normal and feels just fine. She was able to go to the pool this weekend for the first time - she had to wait for the scab to heal from the pic line in her arm. She did that for one week after she got home and my DD and SIL got instructions from the nurse how to do the meds in the IV and all went well.

Linda - I told my DD she could never be a nurse because she first freaked out with having to do the meds in the pic line. Paige is now on oral meds which she hates. Glad that's all behind us.

Rev - Your travels alone amaze me - what an adventurous woman you are. My question - when you got off the train and then took a car - it was rented right? Why didn't the rented car have GPS? I thought most of them had that now. And....you should have GPS in your car too. With all the new houses you bought I hope you bought yourself a new car. I remember you were driving something old when John was alive.

I just realized how we all talk with each other. I seem to be acting more like a sister would rather than a friend. I hope that's okay with you. I sound like I'm telling you what to do and that's how I am with my sister. ;)

I hope you get to spend more time in DC some time. We loved it so much that we'd like to visit again and loved Virginia too.

Sorry to hear about Sarah and the baby. Where is Pat while her house is getting done? I assume she's in your house with all the dogs.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

Elisa - I love mini vacations too. Our friends want us to come up to Door County again this summer for a long weekend as we do every summer, but I can't seem to fit it in to our busy summer. Tom likes driving and it takes us about five hours - so it is a nice trip. Do you have someone come in to feet the kitties while you're gone?

Slap yourself silly in this ridiculously fun party game.
Players answer "true" or "false" to statements as quickly as possible by slapping the target.
Right Hand = "TRUE", Left Hand = "FALSE".
Sound easy? Here are some sample statements : groundhogs have teeth, you are wearing a ring on your left hand, there are 6 Olympic rings, cows drink milk...
Do you have the fastest hand?
You won't believe how many laughs are packed into such a tiny tin!

Anyways, hope you enjoy the games...they are so fun!

Love to all,

Good morning friends,
Still cruising.
To answer your question, Gail. I took the auto train, therefore I had my own vehicle. I needed this so I could transfer my scooter to the cruise. Therefore no GPS.

Linda, I am so sorry to hear about Ed's recent lay off, but glad you guys are going on a trip.

Joanne, it sounds like your dear cousin is nearing the end of this journey of her life. I will be praying for her peace and comfort, and the same for her family. I will also pray for a miricle because with God anything is possible.

Merry, God bless you, I am always tickled by your love of water and beaches.

Sarah is still very sad, the baby was burried this Wednesday, so now it is complete. But the empty feeling and the pain will last a lot longer. I made arrangements for Sarah to have some time off to heal, so I am giving her the salary that she would have earned were she working. She will probably return to work in a month, but she can take as long as she likes, it all depends on how she feels.

Joanne, I don't know if I said this already, but I will be in Springfield, Virginia on July 9th, 10th and 11th leaving on the 12th. Is that any were near you?????

Have a great day ladies,

Well, that's good that you have the cruise to look forward to. Is this a permanent layoff or could they call Ed back? At least we don't have to worry about that anymore since we're retired. Tom also was laid off many years ago and it was scary - but it was much easier to get new jobs back then. We have four future cruise credits with Princess on the books - but haven't booked anything past the Disney cruise.

Gail,
This is his third job loss in the past 25 years. It may or may not be permanent. It turns out that he is being bumped by someone who got laid off in another part of the state. It is our luck that he is young and single so he is willing to move. It there are major union concessions given up then the jobs may be retained. Ed has to make some major decisions in a short period of time. It all seems surreal but I am grateful that my job is secure. I am not ready to retire yet.

Lovely pictures of Joanne and Rev...how fun! So glad you connected. You both look marvelous!

It is so stinkin' hot in Ohio...95 and horrible humidity...had to water my flowers and I was a sweating mess!

Went to my first Nascar Race on Saturday night in Sparta, Kentucky. They were not prepared for the crowd...no parking....it was a parking lot on I-71! Thousands did not make it to the race! What should have taken us 1 and 1/2 hours, took 5 and 1/2 hours....we were late to the race, but managed to see most of it...but my son missed about 167 laps, due to trying to find a parking spot...he finally asked a guy if he could park at his house for $40...then he had to walk 3 miles to the track! So, after the race, we had to walk 3 miles to our car! Yikes! Hopefully, they will get all the bugs worked out!

Hi to Gail, Linda, and Elisa...praying that everything works out for Ed's job!

I'll tell you what the Royal Caribbean Oasis and Allure are really fantastic ships to see and sail on...there are so many choices. The ship itself is a destination, there is something for everyone on them. And the prices are going down, there are some bargains out there. Usually late August or early September, for those of us still working. Just something to consider. We could also pick a resort somewhere and meet there.
A train ride from somewhere to somewhere else could also be an interesting adventure. A trip to NY city or San Francisco would be amazing.
Just some thoughts.
We could even go camping...it would be fun. I would be the one with the big camper with all the bling!:D I don't camp well.

Any way I am home and have been working on Pat's house for the last week.
A horrid thing happened last Friday. I lost my wallet at the mall while shopping for TV's and a mattress for Pat's bed. In the wallet was my Driver's Licence with my birthday, all my credit cards and just to make matters totally awful my medicare card with my social security number right on it.

We went to mall security and to the lost and found in the store we were in, and it never turned up. I canceled all my credit cards, but I have this sinking feeling that someone not nice found it and is going to steal my identity. I really don't know what to do. I notified medicare and they are sending me a new card. I have yet to apply for a new driver's licence. I am very upset about this, and feel so helpless. I prayed about it, but nothing (which is strange, because God is usually very helpful in these matters). So that's my story. I still have hope, but it will be a week tomorrow, and I am getting worried. Any suggestions on what else to do?

Well more later...I will be taking pictures of Pat's new house soon. She will be moving in next week or maybe even this weekend.

Take care and God Bless

Sorry to hear about the loss of your wallet. Hopefully, all will turn out for the best.

Have you notified your bank? You should also contact the Credit Reporting Bureau (Equifax, TransUnion, Experian). If you notify one, the others will be notified also. Alert them to possible fraud.

Keep the faith.

Thanks Joanne, I will do that today.
I really don't know what to do in these matters and feel so helpless and vulnerable. I just want my wallet to arrive in the mail in the next few days.
Pat gets her patio furniture today and the workers come to my house to install the patio doors. I am replacing my sliding glass doors with French doors. Hopefully they come today as my sliding door has become a real pain to open, it needs to get the wheels cleaned and why would I do that when I am replacing the door. So every day we wait is another day we have to fight those horrid sliding doors, and they are hard to open now.

Hope all are having a nice day.

Well ladies, my vacation did in my diet. I am up to 222 lbs. and when I left I was 216, so back onto my program I go. I love my eating program so no problem. But now I have to loose all that weight I gained on the trip. Actually it was a bit more than that, but I have been on the program since Monday so have lost a little so far. I have about ninety two more pounds to loose so it's going to be a long haul, kinda like your trip was Linda. And then you have to keep it off. That's the hardest part. But I am determined to do it this time.
I start swimming in Pat's pool tomorrow. That will add exercise to my program.

Merry sounds like you had a wonderful time at the birthday celebration. I love that play, my niece saw it on Broadway, I saw Lion King, which was my favorite.

Pat has moved into her house now. Almost everything is finished. Now some time today she will come and pick up her dogs and that will be that. I'm sure she will enjoy the privacy of her new home, and get some rest, that she really needs. She has been going so fast.

I am not alone. Anita is staying with me until her and her daughter find a house. I like the company and can always go in my room and lay down for a while.

Have a great day all.

Well today I was to swim in Pat's pool, and I opened the draw I keep my bathing suits in and it had a towel in it and that is all. I had one bathing suit that I left in my suit case for when I cruise, but when I took it out it was ripped! Now I had no other bathing suits and I know I had two nice ones in that drawer. Pat says I must have taken them out and put them somewhere else, but I searched every where and they could not be found. So I finally ended up call Roaman's and ordering three new suits. So I won't be swimming, unless I want to go nude (and no one wants that) until August 4th. July must be the month for loosing stuff. What can you do.
I put Anita on my Fresh Food Diet and she has lost six pounds. But she really needed to, because she gave up smoking when she had that little heart attack and gained thirty pounds. So now that she hasn't smoked for over three months, it is time she loose the weight. She is thrilled how the diet works. It's not working that way for me, the weight is coming off very slowly. But that is because I have been on it off and on since the end of March.
Well I went to Walmart today and got some treats for my dog, some diet soda, and cable, because the electrician told me I needed to make my TV sound system etc. safe from power surges. So he will hook it all up when he comes to install my new outlet and up grades my electricity. The doors and the bathroom still have to be done and Pat's washer and dryer don't work. It's crazy.
Have a nice evening all.

Just got home from dinner at Olive Garden and a movie, "Soul Surfer"...a truly GREAT movie...loved it!

Rev..sorry to hear about your suits...wish I would have told you this sooner....but I buy mine online www.swimandsweat.com
They are chlorine resistant....I have this suit!

I love the Krinkle ones....I go to the Y and the chlorine is so very strong there! Most of the gals in my class wear them....I cannot say enough about these suits! I ordered a size larger than I usually wear and it fits perfectly...I got blue for something different...can you believe I didn't get purple? Next time!

Wow! That was some commercial, wasn't it? LOL!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Thanks Merry for the tip. I will make a note, next time I need a suit. I went ahead and ordered three new suits so I would have them for my cruises and my life at home.
Gosh I love my home. It's so nice. I don't know if I told you but I got one of those nice fireplaces you put on the wall, it looks like a real fireplace only it's not. It's great for Florida, where a fireplace doesn't really make a lot of since. But it sure is pretty, and I know it will be on Christmas time. It will make the home so festive.
I think I told you I'm replacing all my doors and redoing part of my master bath. I'm taking out the counter and putting in a whole new one, which is really beautiful. It will give me more storage space in the bathroom.
Funny, I haven't been able to clean out John's fishing room yet. I'm just not ready. All the other things except the bed I had no problem with. Well Anita did give away all John's fishing shirts which broke my heart. I was away and had asked her to give away his things that were hanging in the closet. But I had put the fishing shirts aside. She thought I had overlooked them and put them in the good will bag. When I came home they were all gone. That was a sad day. But I guess everyone has their stories.
Well take care all.

How is your niece and her family adjusting to a new community? Have they all made friends yet? Tell us more about all of them. I bet your SIL is in heaven with a new house instead of the trailer she lived in. Do you still have Anita and her daughter with you?

Gail my wallet is officially gone. If it had any money in it it wasn't a lot. Very sad, as it was my favorite wallet and has a lot attached to it.

I do not know if anyone is stealing my identity, because I signed up with Lifelock and so far they have been the worst company I could have ever dealt with. I can't get into my credit reports, they want me to shut down the account I now have and start all over, because something is wrong with their system. It is just infuriating.

My dear niece loves her new home. It is helping her get over the recent loss of her little son. He was born dead last month, very, very sad for everyone. Sarah is coming along now. It is hard, but as time passes it will get a little easier.

I will be on Oasis in 41 days back to back, then Allure January 15th, Western Caribbean, then Allure again September 9, and 16th of 2012. I will probably sneak in one more trip on Oasis before the Sept 2012. I'm thinking maybe May 2012, that was a good month to go on her this year. But we shall see.

Pat loves her new home and is very happy with it I went over to take pictures but it was all messed up because so many people were there. So I went out and bought ingredients so everyone could make their own hero's and gelito so everyone could have some ice cream in a waffle cup. Then I set it up on the counter, because Pat was not prepared for all those house guests. Everyone had a ball, but I did not get any pictures taken. Pat keeps inviting people over, because she is so proud of her home.

We went shopping today, for one last piece that she needs, and I got a futon for the fishing room, maybe that will spur me on to start fixing up that room. That was a special room that John loved and I can't seem to get into it. Maybe with Pat's help I can get through it.

We shall see.

Well we have almost made 100 posts. I remember when we first reached one hundred on our last thread. That was exciting for all of us, none of us could believe it. I also remember the emptiness I felt after the cruise that our little thread that I had become so attached to was going to end. And then I believe it was Merry that suggested we keep on (correct me if it was someone else, please, the memory isn't as good as it used to be).
Well that was a long time ago and here we are still typing away. A lot has happened since then, some wonderful things, and some very sad things. But we kept on posting.

My friends,

It wasn't that we were trying to get OUR numbers up (although that inadvertently took place.) it was that we were trying to beat those mean people that at first told us to get off the board, then started critiersizing us and making fun of what we were posting. Joanne and I were trying to beat them. We all were for a while.

That was fun, even though we did lose, but we won in the end, because our site numbers got higher and higher and their cruise just dwindled away after they all came back.

Linda, sorry to hear about your shoulder, but happy to hear that Ed will be retiring soon, it won't be long before you follow. It's tough going to work when everyone else is home, just ask me, I did it for years and it starts wearing on you.

My Friends,

Just got back from Pat's, the pool was wonderful this morning. Spent an hour in the pool exercising and swimming. I am really working at losing that awful weight. I had a little set back when I went away for 39 days, but I am happy to say that after 18 days on the diet, I am back to the weight I was before I left on my vacation. So everything is down hill from there.
I only want to loose a pound a week, or even a little less, because I want to have my body get used to the weight lose and not get too saggy. People go and get their stomachs stapled and loose a lot of weight in less than a year. But then they have all this extra flesh. I'm hoping that my flesh will shrink with my body and I won't have to have any surgeries. That is my goal. Besides I want to get wear out of my clothes and not have to keep changing wardrobes all the time.

Sarah came over while I was at Pat's pool, she is doing pretty good considering it's just been a month since she lost the baby. She is getting the two kids ready for school. Austin 14, is going into first year of high school, while Kalia, will be entering fifth grade, I believe.

Have a nice day.

My friends,

Joanne, it's called The Fresh Food Diet. It is wonderful. I can't tell you how mush I love it. The food is gourmet and there are so many choices. It is the greatest. The best thing is I don't have to shop for food any more, because all the food that I will eat for the day is delivered to my doorstep, every day. You order in advance, so when you get your meals it's always a surprise what you have to eat.

I am going over to Pat's in a while for a swim. It is good for me to get in the pool and do some exercise. Yesterday I spent an hour in there running in place and swimming. Really good for me.

Here is an example of the food on The Fresh Food Diet:

an egg bake which is like a quiche only without the crust and the heavy cream, I think they either use all eggs thinned with a little water or skim milk. The egg back usually has yummy things in it, like red pepper, scallions and a little low fat cheese, or something like that, mushroom, asparagus, tomato, turkey sausage, low salt ham, carrots, green peppers and even corn have been in some of the egg bakes, they are delicious. With the egg bake you get four small slices of fruit.
For lunch you can have all sorts of salads, usually with meat, low fat cheese, and veggies and or fruit and nuts in them. Or a nice soup, or a wrap, some of which are fantastic.
For dinner there is chicken, pork, lots of fish, turkey, lamb, and rarely but sometimes beef. It's usually grilled and very delicious, served with seasonings or a yummy sauce and two side vegetables.
You also get two snacks, and my favorite is their cheese cake. But they also on occasion have dark chocolate dipped figs, you get two of them, and that is a rare treat. As John always said, like you died and went to heaven.
Doesn't my diet sound delicious? The most delicious part of the diet is you do loose weight and you don't feel deprived at all.
Lost another half of a pound when I stepped on the scale this morning. My goal for the year is to reach 200 pounds, and I am pretty sure I will do it. I would like to be down to 170 by the end of 2012 and 140 by 2014. Then I will reach my goal weight which will be between 120 and 130 depending on how I look at those weights. So like Linda, it's a long struggle, but I know if I keep it up I will make it.

Have a wonderful day all

Good evening, everyone! I didn't realize until I logged on how long it's been since I posted.

I taught one class this summer, which was pretty easy compared to the six classes I had in the spring. Not everyone passed, but a good number of them did. So I was pretty pleased.

Tomorrow is the opening meeting of the new academic year; classes start next Monday. I have a contract for a year (last one was just for a semester), so I am happy. Now I have to work on getting my master's degree.

I posted some pictures of things I've knitted this summer on my Facebook page last night. Haven't had time to make jewelry; maybe this fall. :)

Rev, sorry to hear that your wallet was stolen. Glad to know that Pat and Sarah are settled in their houses--I'm sure they are both happy with their new homes. So sorry to hear about Sarah's baby.

Joanne, I can't remember if I posted that I was sorry to hear about your cousin. I know she fought so hard. When do you start school again?

Linda, glad to know you're recovering from your surgery. I hope your trip to Reno goes/went well (can't remember if it was last week or this week that you said you were going!).

Merry, congratulations on the ribbons at the fair!

Gail, I hope you're doing well.

*HUGS* and love to everyone. I'll try to stop by here more often. :)

Hi Everyone

Took my 2 granddaughters school clothes shopping yesterday. We shopped until we dropped!!! It was tax free weekend in VA so everyone and his brother was out shopping. The shopping trip was successful.

In the meantime, my husband met my son half way to pick up the two youngest grands, ages 4 and 3. So now I have 4 of them here.

Planning on spending a few hours at the pool and then some quiet time for all. 3 were up by 7:15 this AM!!

Well I took some pictures of Pat's house. But I want to wait until she gets her TV up in the living room and the corner piece put in rather than this old TV cabinet that she is using temporarily until the electrician can fit her into the schedule.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j98/RevSmith2/2114%20Bonisle/2114Bonisle047.jpg
This is the pool I will be swimming in in about an hour. It's a picture I took before the house was finished, but it will do for now.

Another view. I don't take good pictures. I am too anxious to get the shot, rather than stage it.

Today the worker bees are here to put in my porch door and my bathroom door, then except for the bathroom counter and sinks I will be finished in my house. Oh yes, and I too am waiting anxiously for the electrician.

Have a great day.

(((Rev)))...now that is tempting...especially if we get to swim in the pool...LOL!

I just finished freezing 20 dozen ears of corn...I cut it off the cob and freeze it in ziplocks...all by myself...took me 2 days....I am pooped! Usually the corn is ready in July and my sister helps me. She did help me freeze 10 dozen white silver queen, but now she is back to School (kids aren't there yet), but she is working like a bee! Because we've had so much rain, the corn came on late...so I had to do it, or we wouldn't have it for the winter! It will be worth it!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v404/merry384/Summer/Merry-Sun_Fun-ab.gif

I took a break and went to Wendy's to pick up lunch and stopped at a garage sale down the street...bought Kira a bike...it's so cute! And I got some great buys on toys for her!

I'm going to have the grands tomorrow evening, while my son goes out for his anniversary dinner.

We finally had a break in our weather...we're in the 70's today...do you know what that feels like...down in the 50's at night! My windows are open...no air conditioning...yippee!

Praying you all have a wonderful weekend! I'm pooped! No more work for me tonight...guess I'll just have to sit and knit! LOL!

Love to all,

My friends,

Thanks Merry, the pool is wonderful. Have been so busy lately. Yesterday Pat's blood pressure was so low we took her to the doctors, she was feeling faint. It turns out she has Vertigo. I didn't even know that was real, I thought it was just a movie by Alfred Hitchcock. Silly me.

Have a good day all.

Ladies - I am about "pooled" out! I have been taking my grandkids every day. They really enjoy it though. The little ones have these vests that keep them afloat so they are not afraid to go in the deeper water.

Rev - Pat's pool looks nice. Glad you are able to enjoy it. I have had vertigo. There are exercises you can do to alleviate the problem. I use to tell people I have rocks in my head.

Wishing everyone a nice weekend.:)

Joanne, what exercises, where do I find them so I can pass this information on to Pat? That would be great if I can get her feeling better, before the cruise at least. We only have four weeks to wait now, and I want us feeling great.

Here is one she can try:
1. Sit on the edge of the bed. You can also do this exercise (http://www.ehow.com/how_2303034_treat-vertigo-brandt_daroff-exercises.html) on the floor or any flat surface.
2. Turn your head left, at a 45-degree angle, so that your chin is halfway to your left shoulder. After you have turned your head to the left, lie down on your right side. While lying down, your head should still remain at a 45-degree angle, which is not against the flat surface, yet not pointing toward the ceiling. Stay in this position for 30 seconds. If you are experiencing vertigo, continue this position for one minute or until vertigo subsides.
3. Sit up and into the normal sitting position as when you started. Remain sitting for 30 seconds.
4. Turn your head right, at a 45-degree angle. Again, this angle would be turning your head so that your chin halfway meets with your right shoulder. After you have turned your head to the right, lie down on your left side. Remember that your head should remain at a 45-degree angle during this exercise. You should be facing halfway between the flat surface you're lying on and the ceiling. Stay in this position for 30 seconds. If you are experiencing vertigo, continue this position for one minute or until vertigo subsides.
5. Return again to the sitting position on the edge of your bed. Stay sitting for 30 seconds. This exercise completes one set. Complete five repetitions in the morning, five repetitions at noon and five repetitions in the evening.

Wow, twice within a week--I hope that none of you faints from the shock! ;)

Tomorrow classes start for the fall. I have six again (18 credit hours). I am hoping it won't be quite as hectic as last spring when I was frantically getting all my lesson plans together as I taught. I do make changes each semester, but at least this time I have something to start with.

I hope everyone is doing well--it hasn't cooled down here yet. I want cooler temperatures to get here!

I've done some more knitting--a baby bib, slippers, and a wash cloth for someone's shower a couple of weeks ago. Still working on a blanket for my husband's nephew's baby, then I have two to knit for a friend's twin grandbabies.

*HUGS* to all--I hope you all have a good week. I have to get to bed--early day tomorrow.

Take care!

We've been going like crazy spending lots of time with the grandkids before they are too busy to see us. We've really had lots of fun this summer with them. We joined the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and have been there a few times, our zoo membership expired the end of July so we were there lots before that, went to the Chicago Botanical Garden one time, went to the really fun Centennial Beach in Naperville. I took a few on the train to Chicago with a friend and we took the water taxi to Water Tower Place where American Girl is now located and Lego land....spent a few bucks on that trip.;) Took the kids for lunch at Dick's Last Resort while there and they had a ball - crazy place. This week we're going to Navy Pier with two youngest and will go to the Children's Museum there and see the Cirque Shanghai show there and eat lunch at Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville. I am so glad we're able to live close to all of them and we get to have fun with them.

My friends,

Thanks Merry. Thanks so much for the siggies. Keep busy. I love decluttering too, WHEN IT'S DONE!

My house is really looking great all the doors are finally in, stained and the molding is up. Now to get the trim done. I think I will call the painter today and have him do the trim before he paints, because I am having the trim done in a black enamel, and the rest in white. It probably sounds awful to you all but when it all comes together it will look beautiful. People said when I started, oh are you sure you want to do this, or that, etc. But I know what I am doing, and now when they come into my house they say, what a beautiful job, I never thought it would look like this. Now my Master bath sinks and triple bathroom cabinets have to be installed. Unfortunately, the sinks that I want will not be in until October so the painting and the master bath will have to wait until then.
I ordered country sinks, the kind you put in the kitchen. Only they are only 18 inches wide. The counter will be higher than a normal bathroom counter, but not by much. Now a days they have the sinks that sit on top of the counter. I don't like that, but I love the idea of a square porcelain sink, and I love that the front of the sink will show, but this will be an under the counter mount, and I will be doing the counter top in a black quartz base that has mirror in it. It will look beautiful. Probably will be the next style that they come up with. But style smile, I don't give a hoot, it's what I like and it will look fantastic.

Have a great day all.

Elisa... it was great to see your posts. I am back to work as well. We start classes on Thursday but have had meetings the past week.
Joanne... you must be gearing up to go back as well. Hope you had lots of time with the grands
Gail... I am heading to Chicago in November. I am presenting at a conference the first weekend. I am looking forward to getting to know a little of Chicago since it is my home town.
Merry.... you make me tired just reading about all that you are doing. But I enjou reading about it.
We are researching excursions for our next trip... I put Ed on this job and he is really getting into it. He is on target to retire on September 30. My plan is to work for another 5 years.
If any of you want to see me on Youtube either go to Youtube and search for my name or go to www.greatcomebacks.com and click on the YOutube icon on the right side of the screen. It is a video about my award and you will get to see me with my grands at home ( for about 30 seconds) It tells the story of all four of the regional winners. Gail, Anita is still living here, which is fine with me. I'm used to people living with me. I personally don't care if they are here or not here, either way I just do my thing, and enjoy life. Projects are finished for now. But we have a major re-haul of the master bathroom in October, and then the whole house needs to be painted.

Disney is planed for the beginning of November, and then again for the beginning of December for the Christmas lights. The only month I will be home is October, so have fun at sea.

I was having lunch with a group of teachers at a teacher friend's house. We were all enjoying lunch and talking with each other. All of a sudden we felt the shaking. THe whole house was shaking. At first we thought it was Quantico doing their routine exercises. It really shook the house and everyone was scared. Cell phone coverage was non existant. It was scarey as we did not know what was happening until we turned on the TV. My friend's house did not have any damage nor did mine. One had some valances knocked off the wall. We were blessed.

Ironically, my friend's house is near a man-made beach (community usage). There were a number of young kids at the beach and it did not seem to faze them at all!!

My daughter and granddaughters went with a friend to the new American Girl store in Tysons Corner. She said everything began to shake including the escalators. Evedryone was running out of the stores. The girls were scared but were unharmed. They will always remember their visit to this store.

Then they had to go to the train station to pick up her husband because the commuter trains were not running until much later after they assessed the damage if any.

Today (Thursday) at 1:09 am there was an another after shock but we did not feel it.

We will miss her so much...she was our Pastor's niece, that they practically raised...please pray for her husband Dennis...he is devastated...their story was beautiful...they met and married at 42 and 40, both virgins...had 21 years together. I am thankful that she's no longer in pain...she was in so much pain. I know she is whole now and I will see her again.

On a happier note, I had Kira overnight and took her to the Splash Park today with 2 of my friends and their grandkids...beautiful sunny day!

Then, on the way home, I passed a field of sunflowers...so gorgeous...but Kira was asleep and I didn't have my camera.....soooooo, after we got home and started supper, we went back with our camera and got some great pix...I'll try and post some pix this weekend!

My friends,

Thanks Merry for the darling pictures of Kira, how cute. My is she growing. Don't you wish they could be small forever. Too darling.

Why do I love the Oasis. Well for one, I am a foodie. There are four major restaurants, each with different food, and the Chef's Dinner which is a special event similar to the one on the Princess ships. There are two really nice special places to eat, one is Johnny Rockets, and the other is a Seafood Shack, with fantastic food. Then for no charge there are about seven or eight places to eat, including a doughnut stand, a deli, that makes the best roast beef sandwiches and homemade soups, and salads, you even get a bag of chips with your lunch. There is a pizza place, hot dog, and hamburger stand, with great french fries and a coffee shop, with snacks, the Windjammer, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and of course room service. I have probably missed some food places.

Next the entertainment, there is an Aqua show, and actual Broadway musical, (right now Chicago and Hair are playing), High wire acts, an ice show, then the regular theater, a comedy show, featuring two different comedians. There are parades down the promenade, and the regular stuff that most of the cruise lines have.

There is a Ferris wheel, with hand carved horses, rock climbing, serving area, with real waves, about five or six pools. Indoor and out door movies. Classes of all kinds, kind of like the Princess offers.

There are regular bars, and wine bars, and jazz clubs, karokee , and lots of night life I have no idea about, because I'm in bed usually by nine o'clock.

Those are most of the offerings, but here is what I like to do. Go to the concierge lounge and stay most of the day, with a nice book and a lovely view. There are comfortable chairs, etc. and I am in heaven with my book. Sometimes I go up to the top into the Viking Crown lounge and people watch or just watch the waves go by, in the morning I might get a fresh squeezed OJ and do just that.

I like to have a good meal on occasion. See a movie or perhaps a show, but mostly I enjoy talking to my friends, old or new, reading and just watching the ocean go by.

This is why I love the Oasis and Allure.

As far as managing my homes, I am in the process of losing my tenants in my Largo home right now. Not a great thing, I have a feeling that the house is a mess, and that they have been lying to me for quite some time. Time to pay the fiddler, get it fixed and move on. This is such a hassle and it's happening right before I am leaving.

Have a jubilant day all

Isn't a Ferris wheel the one that goes up in the air, I meant a carousel, silly me. Gail I'm glad you liked my explanation. It would be a great place to meet, because there is something for everyone. The dinning room is spectacular in and of itself. So beautiful. It is an amazing ship. On each floor by the elevators they have these computers, so you can find out what is crowded and what is not. If you get lost, because the ship is really big, you can find your room, or what ever you need to find. Also at a glance they show you what is going on right now and in the next hour from now. They give you menus and anything you could possibly need.
My favorite restaurant is called 150 Central, it is an really upscale place. Their menu is prefixed, and there are about eight courses. Unlike Sabastine's the servings are very small, so you are able to finish each course and get ready for the next one. Also they serve you this wonderful sour dough bread, with little breads about the size of your thumb. They serve this with creamy butter, and this bowl that is divided into eight sections. Each section has a sea salt, from a different part of the world, with a little salt spoon. You break your little bread, put a dab of butter on it, and then a sprinkle of these fantastic salts. It is wonderful.

All this is making me want to get on board tomorrow. I wonder if they have any space...just kidding! I will be boarding in one week from tomorrow, and that will have to be soon enough.

Have a nice day all
Rev

Rev... you are making me want to look into the Oasis and Allure. We have been enjoying Celebrity and are taking our second sail with them in January. We haven't been on RC since we went to Alaska. Wondering where they go and what the prices look like. I LOVE the specialty rest. on Celebrity especially QSINE.

Enjoying the last 2 days of vacation. First weekend in many that we have been home and just doing whatever (of course, there are chores to do). School starts on the 6th for students. Teachers have been there for a week. A lot of new programs implemented this year (attendance, gradebook, etc.) and the kinks are still being worked out.

My friends,
Had the best hot dog I have had in years yesterday. Grilled smothered in grilled onions, and topped with some great mustard. You will be happy to know I only ate the top of the bun. Don't want to brake this loosing spree I am on. Vacation is right around the corner so I have got to be good for the rest of this week, until Friday.
Packing shoes, hats and glasses today.

Linda, you should want to go on Oasis or Allure, there is nothing you could possibly not like about these ships.

Thanks Merry for the siggie, and lay low, you deserve it.

Hi Everyone ~

Thanks Merry for all the new siggies. How do you have time to do that? Hope you enjoy your relaxing day today.

Joanne - Enjoy the last of your time today without all the students. Sounds like an interesting year at school for you.

Elisa - Hope all is going well for you at school too.

I think we should plan on meeting on the Allure - maybe in 2013. The problem will be to decide on what time of the year since I would not want a time when all the kids will be on the ship. Any thoughts?

I have fall on my mind today since the weather turned cool last night and today seems like a beautiful fall day. We had the two youngest grands overnight on Sat and did lots of stuff with them. Last night we were so tired we went into the hot tub - first time all summer for me. Perfect hot tub weather since it was very cool, but not freezing cold.

Enjoy the rest of the day my friends.

Gail,
I love the idea of going in 2013. Not sure what times would work for everyone but would love to give it a try. For me January, mid-March and from May on would work. In the fall around Thanksgiving also is a possibility. Ed will be retired in 3 weeks so he can be very flexible. I would really love to get us all together again. And it wouldn;t matter where we were sailing!

Joanne - Two of the grands had a "snow" a week or so ago. Their school doesn't have AC and it was 114 in the school. So the next day was a day off. Now, the HS where I worked does not have AV in the entire building either since it was built in the early 60's. All the new additions have AC and where I worked in the library it was AC. We had lots of classes scheduled in the library on the hot days.:D Most of the teachers in hot rooms brought their own fans to school. It wasn't that long ago when nobody had AC anywhere and they all lived through it.

Yes, let's plan on 2013 for our cruise.

Just a quick note. I am having a ball. Got up graded to a Crown Loft suite, two stories. Not the Royal loft suite that is the size of a nice size home, but not bad for no extra money. I love Royal Caribbean. They also upgrade new comers, but it's a raffle kinda thing, the luck of the draw.
If we travel together in 2013, May would be the best month, cheaper prices and better chances for an up grade.

Food is beyond belief, but I have been good. Lot's to talk about, but I can't right now, because it's time to join my friends. Broke even in the casino, so far.

Let's do May 2013 on Allure. The rates are the best then for all cabins.
they have all types of cabins, and some will be at a really good price.

Any week in May will do for me, but earlier in May will not have as many college students on there. What does everyone else think?

It would be nice if you got an Royal family suite, each have a bedroom, and bath, and the fare would be pretty good for all of you, and you could come to the concierge lounge, for free drinks and snacks, which is really a money saving bonus. Something to think about.

anyway, guess where I am this week....

I got the Royal Loft Suite AGAIN. I am the luckiest person on earth. Pat is out of her mind with happiness. It is just as beautiful as the last time.

Have a great day.

Sorry I have been remiss in posting. The County decided to implement a new student management system and parent management system. Only trouble is they are still ironing out gliches. Since I am the first line of defense, both teachers and parents ask me why this isn't done or that isn't done. Have had only a few "ugly" parents; most are understanding that I have no control over what is and is not happening.

I will be happy to do that. I don't know if the good deals are now, or closer to the trip.

Here is the one I am looking at:

MAY 11 or MAY 25
PORTS OF CALL:
Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Labadee, Haiti; Falmouth, Jamaica; Cozumel, Mexico; Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Labadee is Royal Caribbean's private island.

An inside cabin is going for about 800 a person. But we can start watching the prices. They also have balconies for 1000 a person, and Ocean views for 850 per person. That price does not include taxes or port charges.

What does everyone think? It really is worth it when you see what you get. It is really a lot of ship.

Let me know, as the prices will only go up. One hundred dollars per person will hold the cabin at the price you see now and if it does by some miracle go down, I will let you know right away, because I am always keeping my eyes open.

Have a great day.

Dear friends,
Wow Merry, that is great, I have never seen the entire production, but my niece has, she said it was wonderful. I saw the condensed version that they had in Disney World. The best production there was "The Hunchback of Notre Dame, but that has long since gone. It never turned into a Broadway play and I will never know the reason why.
Thanks so much for the siggies.

Gail the dates I printed are correct for the western itinerary, here are the dates and the itinerary for the Eastern on the Oasis:
MAY 04 and MAY 18
PORTS OF CALL:
Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Nassau, Bahamas; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Now for the Allure it is different:

Western:
MAY 05 and MAY19
PORTS OF CALL:
Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Labadee, Haiti; Falmouth, Jamaica; Cozumel, Mexico; Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Eastern:
MAY 12 or MAY 26
PORTS OF CALL:
Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Nassau, Bahamas; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Fort Lauderdale, Florida

The Oasis leaves Fort Lauderdale on a Saturday and the Allure leaves on a Sunday. I would suspect that Mother's day would be out, there would be a lot of people cruising then. I cruised the week after Mother's day and that was an inexpensive week. But the prices look good all around right now.
So it's up to you all. Do some research this week and see which cruise you want to be on:

Allure: is featuring the Broadway Musical: Chicago, they have a Mexican restaurant instead of a sea food restaurant, and they have the Samba Grill, which has outstanding grilled meat instead of the Health oriented food of the Solarium Bistro, there is also a hot dog stand on the board walk.

Oasis: is featuring "Hair Spray, they have a Seafood Grill instead of the Mexican Grill, a Solarium Bistro, which serves healthy foods instead of the Samba Grill, and a corn dog stand, instead of a hot dog stand.

Onboard Royal Caribbean International, innovation and imagination rule supreme – and never has it been truer than on our groundbreaking Oasis® class ships. Each features seven incredible neighborhoods, packed with first-at-sea experiences: the oceanside AquaTheater, Starbucks®, Broadway hit musicals Chicago and Hairspray, 3D movie theater, zip line, designer shopping at Coach® and GUESS® stores, and much more. There's something for everyone to discover on the most awe-inspiring ships the world has ever seen.

Go on the Royal Caribbean site and start reading. I personally don't care which ship I go on, and I believe the prices are the same on both, it's just what day do you want to fly and fly back on, and when in May of 2013 do you want to do this. Let's really do this girls, it would be so wonderful!
If you book a western I promise to buy a cabana so we can all go to barefoot beach for the day.

Just let me know, the sooner the better, because the prices will go up. Please Doris will just take a block and hold it for up to six months at that price.

Awaiting a decision.

Rev - I was only looking at the Allure since that's the ship I'll rather sail on. We'd probably go with our regular TA since RC doesn't discount anyway and they all give some type of anboard credit. Princess will start the no TA discount on 1/1/2012 too. We'd probably get a balcony cabin or mini suite if the price is close. I prefer the mid to back of ship. What do you suggest for location?

Any of the dates are good for us. What does everyone else want for dates? Wouldn't you think the dates toward the beginning of May would have less kids?

I'm way over booked these last weeks before our cruise and don't have time to research as I normally would.

Girls...did I tell you that I've been going to Zumba Classes for about 3 weeks? It's so much fun...you can't believe how much you sweat! I think it's a blast...I have been sore from it, but it's getting better!

Here are some siggies for you!

Hi Everyone,

Stopping in to say hello. Went to a water aerobics class on Tuesday. Enjoyed the workout. It is also offered on Saturday so I may go again.

Still have glitches at work with the new student management system but slowly but surely they are being worked out.

Can you believe it's October already?? Have a wonderful weekkend.

My friends,

Hmm, just made morning I see. Lots going on here, so I needed to stop by. Once again Merry, thank you ever so much for the siggies, they are so cute, my collection is growing and I love it.

Five weeks and a day until our cruise, but who is counting.
And less than four weeks till Pat and I leave for Disney.

It's wonderful that I'm getting to cruise as much as this lately. But I am really thinking about the cruise we are planning to take in 2013. Has anyone decided on a date? Yes it is expensive, but it will only get more expensive the longer we put it off. I know the economy is poor right now, but this cruise is a long way off, and if each of us put down a little at a time each month, we can make it. That's how I do it, and it has worked for me for ages.

I will calm down on my cruising, it's just that right now I am wanting to reach pinnacle (100 cruises) on Royal because I think they may be changing their program a little, and I want to be in on the best rewards. So I cruise, and cruise and cruise.

I hope this post finds everyone well and happy.

I love Disney in the fall. We'll be there next August with some of the family. that's not the time of the year to be there...but not much choice when you have kids in school and it will be just before our Disney cruise.

My first choice for the reunion cruise would be the Western - Allure on May 5th or May 19th. My second choice on the Oasis for May 11.

We leave this Saturday for our cruise and won't be back until Nov 6th. Hopefully when I come back we'll have some decisions made and I'll then check with my TA to see what onboard credits she will give. All the prices are the same since RCI doesn't discount.

Fellow Cruisers,

Gail all those cruises are fine with me. The prices are about the same so I don't think that matters. I will do what ever everyone else wants to do. It will be great seeing you all again.

Disney in August is fine, you just have to remember to drink a lot of water, pace yourself and keep shaded if you can. Traveling near the water and in the older parks is better...Animal Kingdom is a killer, because the trees are not as developed as in the other parks. But they do have those mist stations, which are fabulous.

Have a wonderful day all

I'm here, just busy.
Gail I don't leave for another 19 days and then Pat and I are going to Disney. We will drive up Friday morning and stay over at the ES there. We will go somewhere special for dinner that evening.

In the morning we will do our food shopping, having a full kitchen allows us to save money and eat some meals in the apartment, and then go over to Disney and check in. That evening it's the Party of the Senses which includes a music show before and fantastic music during the event. The party ends at 10:00, which is great because the park should have almost emptied out by then. We have different events and meals scheduled throughout the week which should be a lot of fun, and some will be a learning experience.

I'm really looking forward to a week of fun at Disney, before my cruise on October 13th. Pat is not going on the cruise, she will take an Amtrak train home to Palm Beach.

That's all for now folks. (oops, wrong park)

Merry,
Yes, I decorated the house and picked out and purchased all the furniture. At first Pat was a bit reluctant, but when we put it all together it just looked great. This is the way I like a house, clean neat lines, very spacious, and calming to the eye. I love the non color white as you all know. And I love the idea of black and white all around, and then you just add what ever color you want when it comes to throw pillows etc. Even her dishware is black and white. It just makes so much sense. I am a very practical person when it comes to ease of living.
My home is very similar, except I have golden oak Ethan Allen furniture which I have modernized. The don't make furniture like that any more so I'm keeping that. But it's only a few pieces. A dinning room glass cabinet and buffet, a desk, two long dressers, two night stands and believe it or not an armware (spelling), which I love for all my folded shirts and sweaters, and of course it's cedar lined inside. Everything else in my home is contemporary and the way I fixed up the Ethan Allen furniture that now is also.

Linda, it's so nice to hear from you. I'm sorry your life is so busy. I hope it calms down soon. Thank goodness you were not one of those who lost power during that early snow storm last week.

I leave for WDW tomorrow. Yippy.

Have a great day all

Hello my friends...

We got back late Sunday and I'm still trying to catch up. Even with free minutes on the ship....it was too slow for CC messages. i did a long post to you all and I don't see it here so I guess it is somewhere in space.

Loved all the pictures you posted Rev. Your family is very lucky to have you to help them. My front door and back door has glass like yours - love them. Enjoy disney - can't wait to go again too.

Joanne - wishing you a wonderful cruise....but aren't they all wonderful. ;) I like cruising in Nov to warm places since it's already cold and rainy here.

Merry - thanks for siggies and you continue to be so busy....even without your job. t\That's why it is good to have hobbies and other interests when you retire. I am never without something to do and I think that's good.

Linda - how was Chicago? Sorry I missed you. Be careful not to overdo since your good health is important.

When we sailed into FLL the Allure was docked and I took pictures. I'll post a couple when I get organized. What ever happend to the cruise together?

How all is well with you Elisa.

Hugs, Gail

Hi all,
I am back from Chicago,,,, I am so proud of my home town. What an incredible city. Gail... I am so sorry I missed you. I flew back a little early because my son was throowing my DIL a surprise birthday party.
We got the BEST news... my son Tim IS NOT being deployed to Afghanstan. God is good and HE answered my prayers. Tim may go to Kuwait for some time but not back to Afghanistan. I can finally take a deep breath.
I hope we are still planning a reunion cruise. Ed and I want to put it on our calendar. Love to all of you,
Linda

Hi all,
Just back from a wonderful hot stone massage. I think I fell asleep since I don't remember all of it. I try to get a massage at least once a month. I am still having some problems with my shoulder after my surgery in April. I thought they tore my rotator cuff but it turns out the muscle is inflammed and sore. So I have been going to PT since June. I am slowly getting back my strength and mobility.
I can't believe that our cruise is coming up. All of my kids are coming home for Thanksgiving . What is everybody else doing? My son Tim is doing most of the cooking. I love that part!

Joanne,
Enjoy your cruise. I know we can't wait for ours in January. I am excited about going places I have not yet gone to... Panama, Honduras, Columbia and Costa Rica. Yikes... having trouble picking excursions!

We are having Thanksgiving Dinner at my house...having 13 for dinner...then over to my sister's next door for games, desserts, and planning our shopping! Most of our stores are opening at Midnight on Thanksgiving...can you believe that? One nice thing, is that you can get your shopping in, and then sleep in the next day! Sounds like a plan to me. I think our Grands are going to spend the night with us, so their parents can go shopping...so Rick will put them to bed, and we will all go shopping!

Now, I just have to get this house cleaned for next week!
Love to all,
