View Full Version : Free WiFi in CBD and Waterfront Wellington NZ

Wellington is set to become the first city in New Zealand to provide free wifi in the Central Business District and along the waterfront.
It is hoped to have the free wifi operating in September of this year in time for the Rugby World Cup.

This means cruise passengers will have free wifi along the waterfront from the cruise terminal to the National Museum TePapa in Oriental Bay and in the CBD.

Naturally cafe owners offering free or paid wifi are upset but the City Council believes it will be an asset for tourists.

Thank you for posting this information.
Am sure it will be of great interest to those people on cruises calling at Wellington this upcoming cruise season.

if members know of any other cities with free wifi in the CBD please post on this thread to help others.

The Cathedral Square in Cadiz, Spain is a free WiFi area. In the square you will notice cruise passenger and crew sitting against the Cathedral wall and sitting on the steps.

There was free wifi in the terminal we used in Piraeus Greece.
