Booked in Room 4093 on the Oosterdam which is category GG Obstructed View. Has anyone been in this room and how obstructed is the view? When I researched the ship, it is marked "totally obstructed". What is in front of the window?

Thanks for your help.

There is a lifeboat in front of this floor to ceiling window. You can generally see around, above or below a bit. Lots of light, head of bed is not positioned against the windows as in most outsides. We were upgraded to this GG from an inside and were very happy with it.

It should look like the photos in the link below from Westerdam (sister ship to Oosterdam) Only difference will be the location (your stateroom is a bit further forward by a couple of staterooms, and furniture). You can click on each photo to go to a full sized view.

Having troubles today with posting photos, so if you go to the following link and scroll down just past 1/2 way down the page to H 4106 Large Ocean View Stateroom Deck 4 Upper Promenade Deck http://joanjett2000.topcities.com/HAL/Westerdam/Deck-4.html

We were in 4077 on the Oosterdam, which is also a category GG room. We were at the back end of a lifeboat, but had reasonable views looking between the lifeboats. I sent some pics of our cabin to Joanie, but I don't know if they're online yet.

Looking at the deck plans, 4093 would be towards the front of a lifeboat, so you should have some viewing that way. Friends of ours were in 4083, which is in the middle of a lifeboat, and they didn't have much of a view.

The floor-to-ceiling windows are great. We had lots of natural light in our cabin, but had no problems sleeping at night.

I had a GG on the Westerdam and the only thing I could see was a little bit of the sky. I couldn't see around or below the lifeboat.

Here's a link to my pics that I posted of my cabin 4113 on the Oosterdam in 2008. Hope this helps too: Go down to Post #4...

I would book an obstructed cabin again in a heartbeat. It let in a lot of daylight which was very nice.

Enjoy your cruise!! :)

Glad they showed up for you. If you need any resizing, just let me know. I'll try to find some to get up for this thread. Sounds like you're going to be very busy. Thanks again for all that you do with that. It made our cabin-selection process so much easier.

Back on topic, the first image (I hope) is our view of Marjerie Glacier as we were leaving Glacier Bay. The others are pretty self-explanatory. This was GG4077 on the Oosterdam just 2 weeks ago.

I'm surprised at the difference in obstructed rooms. Mine was nothing like yours. I couldn't see a thing from mine.

Looking at the deck plans, 4077 is at the end of one of the tenders. Friends were in 4083, which was in the middle of a tender, and they didn't have the view we had.

Looking at your signature,I see you're cruising on Sapphire Princess in the future. She's the ship in the background of the 3rd pic in my post. :)
