Received an offer to upgrade from a Veranda room to a Superior suite for $149pp or to a Deluxe suite for $249pp. There are three of us. Cruise is 11 days away.

Any tips on trying to negotiate better deal such as upgrade to Deluxe for the Superior upgrade price or try for lower price on either?

If you go to the website, they show no availability for this date so they do have rooms available?

I would jump on it. Price is fair and these will be snapped up fast.

You could make a "counter offer" but it's possible you would lose out to others while waiting for the answer.

That is called an 'upsell'. Only you know if it is worth that amount of money to you.
The suites are outstanding.

It is a 7 day cruise on the Oosterdam. However, the SS and SZ rooms are either over or under pool, wt room, etc, not between other rooms.

Once had a room under a disco which was miserable.

that's a $70 - 100/day difference, then. not worth it to me, but if you're the type to camp-out in your cabin it might be to you.

I would grab this deal FASSSST! Somebody sure will.:)

Good luck!

It's $200.00 more (for two persons). Good point about the laundry.

who CARES??? they have a suite at a suite deal. It's a bargain and a steal but of course while they read all these posts, it will be gone.

Ok, forget the laundry, think spacious, luxurious and a nice lounge, breakfast in the pinnacle and if it's not too late TAKE it.:):)

how much laundry are you guys doing? it's a 7 day cruise.Last cruise we were able to take one less checked bag. That saved $60 r/t in luggage fees. I think one-week laundry is $75.

Still rather pay $249 for a DLX rather than $149 for a superior. Originally mis-read the price ... sorry.

Cheers!

We purchased a press only package on a 7 night cruise that had a few nights pre-cruise. I wanted our clothes pressed. The cost would be $28.00 ($4.00 per day for 2 persons) for press only. The point is that it has some value when evaluating the cost of some upgrades.

Is there an additional cost for the third passenger?

i think the press only pkg is one of the best bargins afloat, but the upgrade would be $750.

Is there an additional cost for the third passenger? The laundry package is for the ROOM and is included in the DLX Suite price. I don't know if their upsell was for two or three times that price.

Cheers!

I think some misread initial post. For 3 people the costs are $450 and $750 respectively.

Joseph, I may be wrong, and the deal may be gone....but all the upsell offers I've ever heard about were $X per person for the first 2 passengers ONLY. No charge for the third.

Thanks for all your posts. The upgrade prices were for 2 people, 3rd no charge. So, we booked the deluxe verandah suite for an extra $498.

Our travel agent called this morning before opening time for the upgrade phone number and was told there were 2 superior suites and 1 deluxe suite left. They do go fast.

One of the amenities is "no-host mini-bar". I assume you help yourself and they charge your account for what you drink? How are the prices? Also, I had thought you could take wine on board but have read it will be confiscated and held till the last night?

the mini-bar is just like any hotel. i don't recall the prices. you are allowed to bring unlimited quantities of wine onboard at embarcation. perhaps you were thinking of purchases bought on the ship.

You can also bring wine aboard when in various ports.... it isn't only at embarkation port.

Click on this link for a list of mini-bar items and prices (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=28437277&postcount=9). As others have said, you can bring all the wine, champagne, soda and water you want. There is an $18 corkage fee if you wish to consume your own wine in the Main Dining Room or specialty restaurants.

Congratulations on the upsell! You will find your much larger stateroom fits three far more comfortably. Free laundry is nice, too. Not to mention the Neptune Lounge features.

So glad you made a decision and got it! I am pretty sure you will love it-we did. We have only had a deluxe suite twice but loved all the extra room and perks that go with it. We used the Neptune lounge a lot. Please let us know when you get back how you liked the suite. Enjoy your cruise!

You are correct about the mini-bar but the prices ar a bit steep. We have ours emptied upon arrival and bring what we want to drink ... coke etc.

You CAN bring as much wine as you want. IIRC it is onboard (in the shops) purchases that are held until you debark.

Have a great cruise!
