Sailing on Nieuw Amsterdam on December 26, 2011 and wondered how do you reserve the cabanas on the ship? Wasn't sure if this was something I can prebook online or just needed to arrange once on board? Also what is difference between Cabana rentals and the Cabana Club?
Thanks for any suggestions!

If you want to book a ship cabana for the entire cruise you can do so by calling Ship Services at 800-541-1576. For daily rentals you just have to wait and see what's left once you are on board.
There two kinds of cabanas on the Nieuw A. There a 5 next to the Lido pool and there 14 of a different kind two decks up in the Cabana Club (called the Retreat on the Eurodam). Both kinds are for rent, but the latter are more expensive. Also, for daily rentals, both are more expensive on sea days.
CLICK HERE (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=162118&d=1279037804) for a pdf of the ones on the Eurodam, which are almost the same.

Note that DutchByAssociation is talking about the Eurodam where there 8 Lido cabanas on the port side, while on the Nieuw A there are just 5 (larger ones) and they are on the starboard side.

We did the Cabana club in January and it was the highlight of the trip. VERY good service. We spent a lot of time in the Cabana. In retrospect we didn't need a balcony room because we were never in the room.
We called about 2 weeks before the cruise to reserve.
