Thought I would start a new thread so this didn't get buried in the old one.

For those of you who are interested in UK and pomp and circumstance, here is the link for the time we spent in England:

or

Although it may not appear to be the case, I really, really did delete a LOT of pictures! But this trip was one where every few minutes, you were faced with unforgettable views, so . . . . Since Kodak limits an album to 500 pictures, I had to do 2. This is the link to Chapter 1:

Hope you enjoy them!

Now for some final comments:

This was a totally unique cruise -- not in terms of service, cuisine, etc. -- but in terms of attitude. Everyone, especially crew, was excited and enthusiastic about the itinerary. I've never seen 11 days go by so quickly. While SD is known for personal service and attention, they seemed to go out of their way to make this one special -- from the warm blankets available to the coffee (with Baileys and Godiva ready to pour for a little kick) to bouillon to (finally!) gluwein; the special excursions (complimentary, no less!) in Oslo, Lillesand, Rosendal and parts of the fjords; Michael's commentaries as we cruised through the fjords, etc. There was a clear sense that Sea Dream had come "home" and there was great pride in finally being able to fly the Norwegian flag. I especially enjoyed seeing the crew so excited -- they are so bored with the Caribbean and, while they like the Med better, I guess it, too, can get old. This was new for nearly all of them and I got a huge kick out of seeing as many of them as guests out taking pictures! In addition, several of them got to go on the land adventures with us and it was just so nice to see how much they enjoyed it. I think their enthusiasm rubbed off on the rest of us! While our weather was about 50/50, I don't recall anyone really complaining about it -- everyone just seemed to take it in their stride and even find some humor in getting wet!

Sea Dream won't be doing Northern Europe again, which is a shame. But apparently, the expenses are enough greater (more pilots needed, etc) and it seems to be a bit harder to sell (why, I certainly can't figure out, since I thought the ship did beautifully!) that it's not economically worth it. That makes me even happier that we were able to experience this particular cruise. Those on the Baltic cruises (that's you, WhatNot!) also have a treat in store.

There are still a number of Med cruises we'd like to do, so our future on SD is assured for awhile longer. We'll be trying Regent next summer in Alaska (and are now forewarned by FT and ZQVOL! on what/what not to expect) and probably some others as SD doesn't go to everyplace on our bucket list. But of my nearly 100 nights on SeaDream, I have to say these 11 were the absolute tops -- it truly was unforgettable.

Vandrefalk, thanks for posting links to your pics. I am still snowed under (pun intended), trying to get all my travel pics in order.

One thing I will add is that pics (in general) just don't do this trip justice. We've traveled a lot and have seen some pretty amazing scenery, but so much of what we saw on this cruise was literally jaw dropping. There were views in every direction, so your senses were constantly bombarded with non stop beauty, even when the weather wasn't at its best (and I'm a sunshine lover).

There were so many wonderful places we visited, but Rosendal really captured my heart.... with its deep blue sky, vibrant green meadows filled with grazing sheep (I can still hear their collar bells ringing softly in the background), colorful flora and fauna, green mountain that towered high above the meadows below, and the majestic snow capped peaks that were lurking in the background - wow, it was such a stunning place. That said, the Flam to Voss train trip was also a feast for the eyes, as were so many other stops on this trip. The hills were alive indeed!

I agree that SD's complimentary excursions were very much appreciated and a real highlight. Not just because they were "free" but because they gave us some very interesting and special things to do and see.

As you noted, it was really fun to see the crew get so excited about the newness and unique aspect of this cruise and its various excursions in SD's homeland. It was also such fun seeing and reconnecting with familiar crew members on SD1 again....they truly are a great group of people who work very hard but somehow make it all seem so effortless. (We took another cruise right after this one - blasphemy! - and when I get my notes together I will post about how it and it's ship, excursions, and staff compared to SD.

This is truly one cruise we will never forget, and I'm so glad that you and Mr. Vandrefalk suggested we join you. ;)

Vandrefalk, the London pics really brought back memories! Haven't even uploaded our cameras yet... How did you get such a great viewing position for the Colors ceremony???

We did the Changing of the Guard thing the day before, but went with a guide that took us to the staging area for the "new" guards. We watched them and the band assemble and then got in lockstep right behind them and fast-marched over to the palace! Was wild following right behind them, I felt like one of the guards, just need the bear-hide hat!

The day of the Colors ceramony we figured it would be a zoo there and so went to the Tower of London, figuring that half the crowd would be at the Colors thing, and we were right, not much of a wait to see the Crown Jewels, etc.

I am loving your photos Karen!

Looks like you had lovely weather while in Marstrand ... one of my favorite places in Sweden! As a matter of fact DJ's DH sailed past is on Tuesday when he was out sailing with some Swedish friends. Actually, they had to motor north from Gothenburg since there was NO wind!!!

So glad you were able to visit the Ice Bar! That is on my bucket list!

Looks like it was an unbelievable trip!!

Thanks so much for sharing your photos!!
