Is there a duty-free shop at Tilbury where one can buy wine before embarking? If so, since the ship's first stop is Scrabster, Scotland, would the purchase of duty-free be allowed even tho the ship has not left UK waters? Thanks

Duty free doesn't matter if you are just going to consume on board, right?

There is virtually nothing in town at Tilbury -- however there is a big box type super store not far up the road from the train station where you could get anything that you need. Last summer we went in and out of Tilbury. There was a free shuttle from the ship to the train station and with a little persuasion the shuttle drivers would drop and pick up at the super store. HAL should really see that the superstore is a regular shuttle stop. With today's luggage limitations we went to purchase toiletries and things that were too bulky or heavy to fly overseas with -- things that we expected to consume during our 30 days at sea.
