Need recommendation: as an overnight would you recommend the Embassy Suites or the Wyndham Airport? Do both offer shuttles to the port? Thanks!

Yes they both have shuttles; we like the Embassy in any city because of the two seperate rooms. Living room with sofa sleeper has mini kithchen and dining table four four, the comp cocktail hour and breakfast buffet in a lovely courtyard type atmosphere. Lastly no claustrophobic or spooky hallways.

I have stayed in both the Embassy Suites and the Wyndham. They are both fine hotels. On our last cruise, we stayed at the brand new Sleep Inn in Dania. The rooms were every bit as nice as the Embassy Suites or the Wyndham and about $50 per night cheaper. They also had a shuttle to the port. It was about a 6 minute drive to the port. There was an small italian restaurant across the street that was excellent. I've not seen this hotel mentioned much on these boards. I guess its still new and relatively unknown. Sleep Inn is also considered a budget hotel, but this one was quite nice.
If all your doing is spending the night, the Sleep Inn is tough to beat for the price.

I hear the brand new Best Western Pelican on the beach is REALLY nice. :)
We're staying at the Beachcomber Resort on the beach. The resort is located approximately 8 miles from Port Everglades, or about a 20 minute drive. I'll let everyone know how it is when we return.

We stayed at the Wyndam a year ago Feb, it was just being converted from a Hilton. the room was nice, very large, didn't care much for the restaurant in the hotel though. We have booked the Riverside Inn for this coming Sept, it is closer to shopping and restaurants. The Wyndam is at the far end of the runway at FLL, not that you heard the planes, it was just out in the middle of nowhere.. They offer a free shuttle from the aiport to the hotel, they charge to shuttle you from the hotel to the pier, we took a cab, it was less expensive, but I don't recall the amount. sorry

Before we started cruising we used to stay at the Beachcomber for 2 - 3 weeks every Spring. Mind you that was back in the '70's so I am sure things have changed. We always took an efficiency so only ate the odd meal there, usually breakfast. Let me know how you liked it.
I think you will find it a little more than 20 mins. from the port, especially if traffic is heavy.
Have fun. :)

they have free shuttle from the airport and to the cruise line. Good reviews from the post. Good luck and happy cruising. I leave at 5:00 for FLL and the Courtyard and the Zuiderdam 3/5. Bye:) l

Just back from the 2/26-3/5 Zuiderdam cruise. Stayed at the Embassy for 2 nights prior to the cruise. They provide complimentary shuttle service from the Airport and to Port Everglades. Good hotel albeit pricey. In addition to the shuttle service you do get the complimentary breakfast and "happy hour". Location is good - several resturants nearby and a new shopping center with a Publix ( grocery store ) in walking distance.

One comment on the (Embassy) free shuttle bit. We signed up for the shuttle when we checked in. The day of the cruise we found a madhouse downstairs with no one really taking charge. We found out that they load the vans by cruise ship, not by the time you signed up. After a frustrating hassle, we got into the van and it was a fast ride to the ship, we boarded fast, blah blah, but if we ever stay at the Embassy again, we'd hop into a taxi and pay the few bucks just to avoid that mess!! Since the port is within walking distance from the Embassy, you COULD walk but if your ship is at the end of all of the piers, that would be one heck of a walk to get there!!

Hi.. we stayed twice at the Hampton Inn Airport North and thought it was great! It included leaving our car for 10 days and shuttles to and from the cruise ship. The second time we flew in and they also included picking us up at the airport. Good breakfast also.. paid $116 + taxes for King room in January. There isn't anything to see in area but we had a nice dinner at he Heidleburg across the street. Their shuttle will also take you and pick you up from a number of restaurants.

No, but we stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites on Stirling Road and were quite pleased. Good beds, and a nice continental breakfast in the morning, which included delicious biscuite and sausage patties. They do have a shuttle, but were very disorganized and lots of people waiting for it, so we took a cab - faster that way.

Has anyone ever stayed at the Comfort Inn Airport? We have it booked for one night at the rate of $76.00. Is this a good rate or could we do better?
Thanks
