View Full Version : Waitlisted for a non-request

We requested an early dinner time and our TA was told we were waitlisted. Ok, as we booked just a couple of weeks before the cruise and didn't expect to get our request. However, our docs say "Confirmed early, Waitlisted request late". We're confirmed for what we want, but on a waitlist for what we don't want??? (Couldn't find a confused icon)

Call HAL and talk to customer service. They can take you off the wait list- if you are on it. I feel like I'm on their personal caller list after all the calls I've made in the last week to connect bookings, change seatings...:)

My problem is that I booked through an online company that only has email contact and I called HAL and they won't let me change anything through the cruise line. They say you must go through your TA. Well... that's not working out too good this time with my emal only contact:(
Hopefully you'll have better luck calling HAL or your TA and getting this resolved before you travel.

Showdog- does the online TA not respond to your emails?
This is one reason I would be afraid to book with this kind of communication, no matter the price. I like picking up the phone and getting immediate help when I need it. Have a good cruise. :)

If there is a problem when you board the ship go to the maitre D' who can correct the seating.

did on line TA once - similar issues but worse (no confirmation at all of payment, documents issued in correct name but mailed to wrong name......) HAL was actually very helpful to me -- they sent me confirmations and assured me that we were on the cruise--they even assigned me a nice cabin as we had booked a guarantee
do you need to call HAL again and see if someone else at HAL will be more helpful?

I have booked many times with an online-only TA and have no problems making changes to booking. Just because they only deal with emails, doesn't automatically make them inefficient. The cure for the original poster's waitlist woe is to contact their TA whether it be an online one or not and explain that the dinner situation isn't correct. They contact HAL and straighten it out. Very simple and easy fix. I have had similar problems in the past and it was easily handled by my online TA. Happy Sailing!

My TA contacted HAL. It seems the wrong dining information was printed on my tickets. We don't see the maitre d' about dining changes as (1) the lines are long and (2) if changed, it doesn't usually change the first night. We like to meet our table mates the first evening.

my online only TA did get back with me and they were helpful.
They've been pretty efficient at everything so far but I'm on the wait list and that's where I'll be probably until we sail. Would I have better luck if I went to a TA with phone contact? I don't know... but the price would have been more so it wasn't worth it to me.
It sounds like this cruise is just full and unless we have a doctor's note we won't get it changed.
I would book with this TA again in a minute if the price was right. Everything has been ok, but when it comes to stuff like this you just have to hope everything turns out ok.
Usually you can call the cruise line and talk them into helping you with stuff like this even if you booked with a travel agent if you're really really nice to them and beg, but this time HAL can't do anything.
I sure hope we get the early dining though. 8:30 just seems way too late to eat to me.

Well, we got our cruise documents and they show that my husband is confirmed for the early seating and I'm confirmed for the main seating.
We are cruising with another couple, so now we're dealing with the TA and HAL trying to get this all sorted out. We had requested the early lower seating on the Zaandam.
