View Full Version : seating problem - husband at early/wife at late

I am just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. My finace and I will be on the 9/7 transatlantic on the Connie for our honeymoon. We requested late seating. I checked our documents on the Celebrity web site last week and they had me at late seating and him at early seating. This clearly won't work. I contacted the company through which we booked and they contacted Celebrity. Now he is waitlisted for late seating. I called Celebrity and they told me that they don't know if he will get moved by then or not. Is it likely that he will end up at late seating? Does anyone have any advice?

Hi Kelly
If the late seating request does not clear by the time you sail, go immediately to the dining area and arrange late seating. Also have the TA check back right after the final payment is due (which should be July 7th). You will see cancellation coming in.

By the way -- are you listed on Cruise Tenders? We are also on your cruise on that date.

Thanks, Deb. Yes, we are on Cruise Tenders and looking forward to meeting all of the rest of you in September!

Yes, I totally agree with hebeast:

Continue to work the issue (nag if you have to) to getting this resolved before you get on the ship. Sounds like somebody messed this up and hopefully they are motivated to fix it!

But if all else fails, then once you get on board the ship you should head straight over to the area where the dining room seating arrangements are handled (usually it is in one of the lounges) and get the problem fixed.

When you check in at the pier you will get your cruise card which which have your dining room assignment on it. You should be able to tell if you are both sitting at the same table at the same seating. If it appears you are not together, when you get on board the ship go to your cabin and find the daily newsletter. It will tell you where the Maite'd will be during embarkation. Go speak to him to make sure you are sitting together.

How on earth does this happen????

Seabee
June 8th, 2004, 06:39 AM
I am assuming it happened because they are in separate cabins...good for you! Keep in mind that this isn't the first time this has happened, just the first time it has happened to you...and it can be easily fixed once on board. Don't let this worry you at all. If you still don't have it resolved beforehand, then you will be able to get it taken care of on board.

I am not aware of the dining assignments being on your card at check in. I've always found them on the desk in my cabin.

Separate cabins????? I thought she said this was their honeymoon??

brigittetom
June 8th, 2004, 06:51 AM
Since this is their honeymoon cruise, I doubt that they booked seperate cabins. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif We have always gotten our table assignment card on the desk in the cabin also.

I agree with the rest. As soon as you board, go the cabin to check your table assignments. If they are not the same, go immediately to the diningroom. There will be someone at the door to tell you where the table changes are being made. I wouldn't be worried at all. Once on board, there is no way they are going to expect you to have different dinner assignments. Have a wonderful cruise. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Nitemare -- if this is their first cruise and their honeymoon I think they would view it as a "problem". However, I'm sure it will be easily fixed -- we are only trying to reassure them and put them at ease.

Had exactly the same problem on our honeymoon. We assumed it was because of different last names even though we were sharing the same cabin. Maybe it doesn't work this way for everybody but we obviously didn't have time to get my bride a new passport, new drivers license, etc., so she had a totally separate set of documents. Once we got to the ship and our cabin our seating was the same.

There is a place on the Celebrity website that allows you to merge bookings for seating arrangements. All you need are the booking numbers. Go to Reservations, then documents to board. You will, once you enter one booking number, see your/his name pop up. Then, scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter the other booking number where it shows you to. This might call Celebrity's attention to the fact that you want to sit together and will cause them to look twice.

Good luck, congratulations, and happy cruising!

Seating assignments are done by cabin... not by person.

Have your agent call the dining coordinator's department, and get it straightened out now... not later.

OOps...sorry, I missed the part about the honeymoon. I agree with Gypsy (I always agree with the Gypsy http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif). Table are normally assigned by cabin. Still, it will all work out.

Hi Crusin Nurse

Cruise Tenders is the absolute fabulous website that has been put together by two gentleman who enjoy cruising. They are providing a place to really get into the spirit of your future cruise by providing forums, newsletters, information on who is cruising with you, allows you to post your picture so you see what people look like and recognize them onboard. It also allowed us to list private tours that we are looking for others to join. Right now we have over 160 people interfacing for our Sept 7th Transatlantic via this website. Once you register it is secure so only registers readers can obtain the information. We are on are 3rd rollcall with them and everyone keeps getting better.

I not sure if Cruise Critic will zap this as an advertisement or not so the website is

moc.srednetesiurc.www (got to turn that around)

You can also email me at hebeeast@aol.com for the link.

Great site to enhance your Next Cruise.

My husband and I have had different last names for more than 25 years. We were still one booking in one cabin and they gave us one dining assignment. Different last names shouldn't cause a seating assignment problem.

New Cruiser - I think the booking was our problem. For whatever reason our TA got us two bookings (two different reservation numbers, two full sets of documents) but somehow had them linked so we were in the same cabin. Which was convenient since we were on our honeymoon. http://messages.cruisecritic.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif All I can think is that the computer sorted us out as singles and somehow ignored or discounted the fact we were in the same cabin. It actually was a bit amusing at the time as they clearly knew we were newly weds....got the note from the captain, congratulations bottle of wine, etc, etc. It was not a problem to solve on the ship.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I haven't been on the boards in a few days, so I just now have a chance to reply.

I will check with my TA again about this. The first time I checked he went from being at the first seating only to being waitlisted for the second. I, too am hoping that once a few cancellations begin to come in that it will be resolved.

This is not our first cruise together, but it is our honeymoon. We would like to dine together. I joked with my finace that he could go to first seating while I was getting ready. He could figure out what the best menu items were before I got there. Then again, we are sailing Celebrity, so everything should be good! Give it a few years or so and I will agree that I lucked out by being seating separately! :-)

Do you two have separate booking numbers? That would also cause you to have two chooses for seating. Normally a couple training together - would be under one booking number and one seating preference. Also means that two booking number will cause you to have two sets of documents that you will need to pack.
