I know I should put this on the river boat forums but no one reads that in a timely manner so I'm putting it here.
CNN says one reported death and 80+ injury. No cause yet.
Having taken 2 river boat cruises myself and always thought 'nah, these things can't sink..the river is too shallow' , this is a wake up call to ALWAYS be aware.

This is awful. Will be interesting to find out what actually happened to cause this. Thanks for posting.

I searched online for updates & it's a 1955 Soviet era river cruise ship which sank in 60 feet of water 2 miles from shore on the Volga during a storm at about 2:00pm in Russia. There are conflicting reports about those onboard from all rescued to 100 missing. This accident concerned me more than usual because the roll call leader on our fall cruise is on a Russia river cruise but fortunately not this one.

How very sad. However it is not a major cruise line but rather a local one, the Bulgaria belongs to a local tourism company Argo Rech Tours and was on its way from the town of Bulgar to the regional capital, Kazan

Scary and sad. I've always wanted to do a river cruise and this will make me be more aware of the companies providing the tours.
