Just saw this on the vinow website:
"Wednesday 23
Mariner of the Seas
Zaandam: CA
Costa Atlantica
Disney Magic: CB
Volendam: CB"
My ? is how accurate is this? Do we have a 50/50 chance of actually docking in Charlotte Amalie?

I think they can dock 3 ships there and another one over at the old naval port. Sometimes it is almost better to be the ship that gets to anchor in the port and then get shuttled directly into the middle of town.
I think Disney has a special deal that says they always get to dock so that leaves 2 dock spaces for other 4 ships, 50-50 chance.
By the way that actually is a pretty light day. Last time we were there nine ships were at St Thomas. You could just barely walk in the downtown area.
Good luck and have a great next cruise.

That list is pretty accurate. The Star Princess, Mariner of the Seas and Costa Atlantica will be the ships docking at Havensight and as they are quite large, that will be it - 3 ships maximum.
Disney Magic and Volendam will be at Crown Bay.
Star Princess
-Mariner of the Seas
-Zaandam: Anchorage
-Costa Atlantica
-Disney Magic: CB
-Volendam: CB
One cruise we were on we were supposed to anchor, but at the last minute the Captain was given permission to dock at CB because there was only 1 other ship there. I believe that dock only takes 2 ships, but I could be wrong - maybe 3 small ones.
Sometimes it is better to anchor if you want to shop as they the tender takes you right into downtown Charlotte Amalie.

If it states CA you will probably tender in, the only two docking areas are Crown Bay and Havensight.......jean

Your list was only 5 ships. A few weeks back, there were 7 large ships at St. Thomas on the same day......about 14,000 people put ashore at the same time. It was a ZOO....and the sad part is that it will probably get worse over the next few years.

If you tender from the inner harbor, it won't be too bad...... Outer harbor stinks IMO
EXCEPT that Immigration Inspection must be done and I have heard that the Officials come to the anchored ships last. If there are too many ships and not enough Officials, I think they do the docked ships and then ride the harbormaster boat or whatever out to the anchored ships.
Unless, of course, you have come directly from a U.S. port. If that is so, you will not have to do Immigration Inspection.

Uggh...DFD1, they added Star Princess when I wasn't looking :(
That would be nice, sail (if we didn't have to do the Immigration Inspection)...unfortunately, we go to Tortola first...so I guess we'll have to wait...fortunately, we have a balcony, so it won't be bad ;)
I guess the only thing left to do is cross our fingers that we don't get Outer Harbor ;)
Thanks everyone!

On a lighter note with all this heavy stuff around, we docked at crown bay on the Volendam, there were three ships at Havensight although one of them was a HAL ship I dont know which one, anyway if you dock at Crown Bay and pick a taxi up into town as you come out of the pier keep your eyes right there is a shop called "BLINDS & TINGS" :D we rolled around laughing for ages, has anyone else seen it?:)

Can someone give me the web site to check how many ships will be in any one given port each day, and how far in advance can you check ?
thanks

The best place to get Virgin Islands ship schedule is at www.wico-vi.com (http://www.wico-vi.com). They are the ones the schedule and and give docking spots to ships. Ships go first to WICO dock (Havensight) {3-4 ships} then Crown Bay dock can hold two mega ships and a regular size. QE2 and QM2 always anchor behind Hassel Island
