There seems to be a number of cruise docks in New York City (including one actually in New Jersey). Can someone tell me which one Regent uses? Thanks much.

Not positive -- but the Queen Mary and Silversea dock near the United Nations building. Assume that Regent does the same (great location!)

That would be difficult to do, since the UN is on the East River and the Manhattan pier is on the Hudson.
The QM2 sometimes docks in Brooklyn, sometimes in Manhattan. The one time I sailed Regent into NYC, they were at the usual docks, Huson River at approximately 55th Street.
If you give me the date and ship when Regent will be in NYC, I can probably get you exact information. It would be unusual for Regent to use the Brooklyn pier, and even less likely for Regent to dock in Bayonne; but anything is possible.

Here's the NYC schedule. (http://www.nycruise.com/scheduleNYC.html) In October 2011, Regent is docking in Manhattan.

Wow -- really screwed up on that one. This "factual"(?) list from the NYC cruise port does show the UN as part of a long list of things to see near the port http://www.cruisereviews.com/ports/us-coastal-cruises/new-york-city-port-faq.html (item #7 -- last line).
We could have been on the Hudson River. This was only 2 months ago. ... guess this California girl can't tell one river from another. Sorry!

Let me see if I can change the subject -- or get back to the subject!
Could anyone provide insight on the ease or difficulty of getting taxis on arrival at the Manhattan Terminal?
I would be grateful for multiple replies: Some people may have had a good experience and others an awful one.
Thanks

About 2 years ago, it took us forever...
We waited and waited, concerned about missing our flight. Taxis were scarce..
Finally found a guy who had a private car who guaranteed to get us to the airport in time, hefty tip was promised.. He knew every shortcut, rode on sidewalks, etc. Just like in the movies.
Got to our gate 15 minutes before it was shut.
Message is...in New York with the horrible traffic...leave yourselves plenty of time.
Good luck..

Observer, whatever you are doing in NYC it might be a good idea to hire a private car. Repsonder's experience would prompt me to do that.

Prior to our roundtrip cruise on the Pride, we stayed at the Westin for a few days. Upon departure Westin arranged for a car to pick us up on our return. They were punctual, I had their direct phone # just in case and the transition was smooth. I would not do a taxi as it was really hetic that day with many ships disembarking. Go for the private hire.

I'll add my concern about taxis. We live less than 10 miles from the pier, in NJ. The first time we sailed into NY, it took forever to get a taxi, and then they wouldn't drive us to NJ. We got out at the George Washington Bridge bus terminal ready to take a bus home, but found a second taxi to take us home.
That was before we had a cell phone. Now we arrange a ride in advance, and use the cell phone to connect with the car service.
Since we live in NJ, we don't know NYC limo cos. The most widely advertised one on the radio is Dial 7 limo, 1-212-777-7777; but I have no idea how good they are. Maybe a NYC based cruiser can recommend a limo service.
