Thanks for the update. Given much comment about the Veendam in the past re a/c problems, etc., how did you find the condition of the ship? How were the pools, other mechanics, and, were public areas clean and functioning well (all elevators running, etc)? I am considering this cruise for later this season so am interested in any details you are able to share. Thanks again,

I am not OP but we loved Veendam last month.
There were 2 areas that each had 4 elevators. One between the buffet and Retreat area did not work the whole week. Another in that area was very jerky and we jokingly named it the Tower of Terror like at Disney.
One in the other area was jerky but nothing like that one.
I thought the ship was in great shape. One of the hot/cool tubs in the Retreat was covered and I don't think had been filled since drydock.
I did not hear of a/c or plumbing issues and we did meet and talk with alot of people onboard.
It seemed everyone on our sailing was very pleased with everything.
I would love to go again!

This time last year, it sometimes seemed like every other thread on this board was about the Veendam's "systemic" a/c problems. Nary a peep about the subject from passengers sailing this year. It seems that either the problem was largely solved or it wasn't quite as "systemic" a problem as claimed. FWIW, This year's "whipping boy" appears to be the Zaandam.

Food in the MDR was great . While I liked the food in the Lido ,my DW did not feel it was up to past standards .
Our Lanai cabin was smaller than we anticipated but it was very clean and we loved the views .
We did not use the pool at all .We found it to be very small but a ship pool has never been our thing .
The ship officers and crew were extremely friendly . The CD went out of her way to assist us in a matter as did other ship crew members .
No problems with the elevators or anything else .
The entertainment was good ,not great .We only went to one movie
The casino was small but adequate .I won on the last night of the cruise and the most I've ever won in a casino in 15 years .

For dinners that are not formal, how casual can we go?

The most casual would be dockers/jeans for gentlemen with a collared shirt/polo jersey. For ladies, nice capri pants with top and sandals/shoes are permitted in the MDR.
