My wife and I are 3 star mariners booked into an SC suite on the Eurodam for an Eastern Caribbean itinerary and have been given Pinnacle grill credits for 2 nights from our travel agent. Can these be booked online or must we wait until we board to make reservations? Any information would be appreciated.

If you book on line, you'll have to pay. A "gift" card from the TA will be waiting when you board and you will book then.

You need to wait till you get on board but the Pinnacle already shows you have this has a gift on your booking so in most cases as long as you go to the Pinnacle the first day you should be able to get a reservation. Also if you are a 3 Star Mariner you most likely will get credit back of the 25% ;)

Last cruise, I tried to be "smart" and made an online reservation before the cruise and paid for the Pinnacle dinners. That way, I was able to reserve the night and time. When we got onboard, we cancelled the paid dinners on-board, but kept the reservation and had them apply our freebies to that same reservation. Honestly, it confused the heck out of them, and it took a few trips to the Front Desk to sort it all out. So, agree, just go the the Pinnacle on the first day with the freebies to set up your reservation.

Our gift Pinnacle reservations usually come with a pre-determined time so we just have the time changed as soon as we receive them. It is never a problem if it is done shortly after boarding.

One time we were not able to use our free dinner from AMEX Plat -- Pinnacle was already booked up.

The manager still wanted me to sign thr card and turn it in -- I refused -- told him that signing the card and turning it in would indicate that we had eaten there.

When we got home -- I called AMEX and told them what had happened so that they would not pay HAL for a dinner we never got.

Glad to find this thread - our TA gifted us a dinner at the Pinnacle for the first time and I wondered how that would work. Do you make the reservation at the restaurant or the front desk?

Do you make the reservation at the restaurant or the front desk?At the PG, or you can call. I think it's ext 98 for PG/Canaletto/Tamarind. That will be on the info in your cabin.

As Deluxe Suite guests, the concierge in the Neptune Lounge can handle the reservations for you after you board. She/he will be in the Lounge when you board and will be happy to make your reservations for the Pinnacle Grill. Somehow the Neptune Lounge Concierge has always been able to get us into the Pinnacle Grill; however, we did have to be flexible on the day and time on some cruises.

When you have had some trouble getting into the restaurant is that generally on short (7 days or less) or long (10 nites or more) cruises?

I've recently been on a 14 and a 3o day cruise. I had no trouble booking the Pinnacle Grill. First cruise (14 day) I went solo. On the 30 day I was part of a group.

On our last cruise we had a PG coupon from our TA and one from HAL - we couldn't get in as it was booked solid and they would not give us a refund for the value of either coupon. When this happened on the Veendam they gave a shipboard credit for the unused coupon - but not on the Zaandam.

Would this be the appropriate time to write a completely dishonest post that the PG is awful, terrible, rotten, stinks, "Why would anyone waste their time and money there?", etc. in the hope that fewer people would rush to book it?

Nah, better to keep CC trustworthy.

Still, the idea is tempting.

Thanks for the information, I will go to the Pinnacle Grill to book a soon as I board as I want to ensure one night will be Master Chef's night. Besides, I can't think of a better way to spend part of our final evening. Early evening, anyway.

Since the op is in a suite and will be dealing with the concierges ;) I will add that I did exactly this:) We had specific nights we wanted to eat in the Pinnacle as a group. Concierge had no problem refunding the booked dinner (obc) and re-scheduling it for the same time, etc. Didn't seem confused at all:D Not something I would do often, but it did work:)
