Anyone know of a reasonably priced hotel near Port Everglades with included shuttle to Pier?
Going on Statendam Oct 14 for 28 days.

I suggest you do some reading on the Ports of Call - Florida Departures forum. Lots of advice there from cruisers on all lines.

I think you are going to have a hard time finding a hotel that will give you free parking for a cruise that is 28 days long. Most of the hotels that provide free parking will normally let you park free for 2 weeks tops, and you also have to get a room at the hotel for a pre-cruise stay or a post cruise stay.
Since you live in Fort Pierce you're only a couple of hours from the port so why don't you see if you can find a friend or relative to drive you to the pier and pick you up after the cruise.
Personally, I wouldn't want to leave my car at a hotel parking area for 4 weeks. See if you can find a parking lot that doesn't charge an arm or a leg for parking. I know that if you park in the garage at Port Everglades it will cost you $15 per day and that's a lot of money for 28 days parking.
Good luck. ;)

We have found it easier to do a one way rental car. Both Avis and Budget have offices near the port and run a shuttle to the ship. The shuttle bus was waiting when the ship docked upon our return and we were off and away quickly and easily.

:) We have stayed in FLL many times and left our vehicle at a hotel free of charge for the entire cruise including a 30 day and 42 day cruise. Go to www.stay123.com (http://www.stay123.com) and you will find many hotels at all the cruiseports that provide free parking. Some only let you park for 7 or 1o days others 30 days and some for your entire cruise. Most provide free shuttle service back & forth to the terminal. Every hotel we used was quite nice and most provide free breakfast and some free coctails at happy hour in the evening. Booking through them is also cheaper than going to the hotel direct. We currently are currently booked at a Hampto Inn for our 45 day Med cruise in Oct.

Free parking at a hotel is attractive in theory, but there is the issue of security and most hotels provide none. The longer the cruise the more I would worry about security. Your car is just sitting in an open lot and anyone watching or up to no good will quickly know this car is unattended for days/weeks. We always park at the port's parking deck- no one can enter the port area without showing identity and reason for being there and the deck is about as secure (police and cruiseport personnel are there 24/7) as possible. That is worth paying for, IMHO.

We always stay at the LaQuinta in Hollywood, FL where a guest can leave their car for up to 30 days. They have security and a comp shuttle for the short ride to the pier (no shuttle back to the hotel, but a taxi is only approx. $22). Very nice accommodations and a hot breakfast is included. We've done this many times and have never had any problems or issues.
