Hi everyone. We have just booked our first Silversea cruise and after 3 Cunard trips are really looking forward to trying the more intimate surroundings of Silver Spirit. Any tips would be very gratefully received. Looking forward to meeting any of you who will be aboard with us.

We are reserved on this cruise as are several of our friends. We started a roll call thread a while back and I will bring it forward.

Interested to see you sailed with Cunard and then chose Silverseas. i've only ever done one cruise and it was with Cunard, a transatlantic crossing this May. I loved it. I'm now thinking of the Spirit, same itinerary as you but a month earlier. How did you come to choose this after Cunard? i've also been considering HAL and Celebrity.
Enjoy!

Haven't done a TA and don't really fancy doing one - we like the ports of call and think we would be bored without them. TA fans will disagree I know :)
We love Cunard for its ambiance, love the formal nights and dressing up, etc. and without meaning to sound snobbish don't want a ship full of children and the floating resort type of thing. I had been reading some of the contributions on the Cunard page by the regulars on there who had tried other options and Silversea seemed to get good reports. We did a Caribbean cruise on QM2 last November which was great but out of the 10 days, 4 of them were "cold" days sailing out of and back in to New York in the middle of winter. This year we will have the whole of the holiday in the sunshine.

Thanks for the response. I've been doing lots of research and pretty sure we will be going with Silversea for reasons you mention above. I don't think it's snobbish to want an adult environment. My vacation time is precious and prefer an environment that is refined and quiet if I want quiet. I very much enjoyed my quiet time reading with a wonderful view on the QM2. I think I will have ample time on the Spirit Caribean voyage.
Regards.
