Has anyone been on the transatlantic crossing at this time of year before? If so, any advice about the likely weather -- and, hence, clothing choices? Thanks in advance.

I for one think weather and sea state always a crapshoot.
We did a trans-Atlantic across the South Atlantic, Mar 98, Buenos Aires to Barcelona, and the water was very smooth.
Fall of 98, across the North Atlantic, London to New York, moderately bumpy.
Our last transAtlantic across the North Atlantic, Sep 02, Venice to New York, was very bumpy!
Fairly cool out on deck - advise sweater or windbreaker.

Druke I: Thanks for the information. Like you, we figured there was no way to be certain, just were curious about likely weather types -- i.e., mostly warmish, mostly coolish, and the like. Your advice about sweaters or windbreakers makes sense. Again, thanks.

We have found North Atlantic seas to be cold and tending to some bumpy weather. These cruises have been West from London in the Fall.
However, South Atlantic crossings have been pleasant, smooth and lovely weather. These cruises have been FLL or STT East to Spain and/or Portugal and were in March. Repositioning from Spain West in the Fall also enjoyed nice, smooth weather.
North Atlantic was typical weather but we may have been lucky on our three South Atlantic crossings. I'd be prepared for wind and possibly rain either way--weather forecasting is a mostly inexact science.
