Has anyone ever taken the flightseeing tour in (over) Manaus, Brazil?

This trip on March 06 sounds interesting, however it is rather expensive at $279.00/person. I also wondered about the safety of flying over the Amazon in a small one or two engine aircraft. Crashing in the jungles of the Amazon is not something I care to do.

Any thoughts?

It might depend on what you hope to see. We have jungle trekked in that area, and the fauna is tough to see even from within the forest. The waterways might be better experienced from a motor canoe or similar, also. One thing to keep in mind is that much of Brazil is solely VFR, meaning that planes just have to watch our for one another without air traffic control, even in the isolated large cities like Manaus (open skies kind of like the Grand Canyon, which is much more dangerous to fly than most folks may realize).
