The website lists the hours for HMC as 7am - 2pm. Is that really it? Seems like an awfully short day....

Not all ships leave at 2. If they do it really is a short 'day' on the beach because you will have to tender back to your ship about an hour before the 2 PM sailing time.

But some ships will stay until 4. It depends on how far the ship has to sail that evening or the next day.

We were there until 3, and the last tender back to the ship was 2pm.
The crew started to pack stuff up to return to ship at 1230 or 1.

Way too short.

Boy I guess I should have read these a little closer before I booked the private cabana at HMC for our upcoming April 16 Zaandam cruise. I guess I was thinking that we would be there from 7-2, and 7 hours would be worth having the cabana, but reading these posts I realize we probably wont be there more than 5 hours. Probably not worth having a cabana for. Pretty dumb, I guess I should have thought about the tender times.
Does anyone know if I cancel now, will I get refund or ship credit.

You can cancel and get a refund on your credit card IF you cancel more than 10 days from your sailing date.

What are others opinions on the Cabanas at HMC for the half day? Our itenarary for HMC is 7-2. Would the Cabana be worth it or a waste?

I had read so many positive things about them, that I kinda jumped the gun and rented one, not sure now if I should keep it or cancel.

HMC is positively deliteful--- I'd ditch the cabana and rent a clamshell for $8 and enjoy the beach just as much!!!!

I think it depends on what else your doing on the island that day. If you are just going to enjoy your cabana and swim, it would be worth it, but if your only going to be in the cabana a few hours, I would skip it. Also most last tenders off the island is 30 minutes before the ship leaves, and trust me they will not leave any pax on the island! If you are planning on doing other excursions, I would cancel. A much longer day would be nicer. :)

As of right now on our sailing we're slated to be there from 8am to 6pm. Hopefully it'll stay close to that :)

Ipresume that you will be headed home to FLL after HMC--it's not far away , so no need to leave early

Actually no, it is the first day after embarkation. This is followed by a sea day and then on to Grand Cayman. All in all, there should be plenty of time for a long day at HMC.

Thanks Jercal10 and Ziggy,

I think we will cancel and just enjoy the beach. The Cabanas sound great, but I think a longer day would make the cabana more worthwhile.

Appreciate your comments.....

It depends on which ship you are on as well. We were there for quite a while. We did the aquatrax jet skis. I highly recommend them. They are so fun if you are daring. We swam with stingrays. If you never have, then this, too, is fun. The beach is nice early when people do not get off the ship right away. Also, nice when everyone else packs up and leaves. Plenty of time...lots of sun....

I think the ships usually sail by 4 PM the latest. It would leave earlier if they had a great distance to travel.

I keep seeing great comments about HMC but the drawback of not being there long enough. Do you need to rent clamshells ahead of time? (I love the sun but DH likes shade.)
