View Full Version : Legitimate "romeinlimo" Recommendations??

I've noticed that there is one poster who has recently joined (this month) and the only posts he has made was to recommend "romeinlimo". All 34 of his posts have the same plug - perhaps they are good, but this is getting suspicious. What we really want here is legitimate recommendations from other CC members who have used the tour companies but to me, this looks like someone trying to drum up business. Perhaps I am wrong, but just thought I'd put my 2 cents worth in.

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck.....it's probably a duck! Have to agree with what you say.

I don't know who the poster is as I do not read all the posts only were I think I could be of help..that being said "romeinlimo" does exist and are very good an reputable.I have not used them as we generally just travel by land and stay in Rome for a week or so,but I do know people who have used the services and have been very pleased. His name is Sandro and he comes to the US and is starting a limo service in NYC I think.Hope this helps some.

Tantan:
Avila joined yesterday & posted 34 plugs for his limo service; you joined today to defend him. Sounds like more than a coincidence to me.

Romeinlimo may be very reputible, but I've not seen any word about this company other than on this board, which is odd. I did pretty extensive research for a post-cruise stay in Rome this May, and therefore should have seen a reference to them. After several months of research, I was pretty surprised to see a name I had never seen before suddenly being mentioned here - and mentioned alot! We need to hear from some more CC members like Cberge!
In my research, I repeatedly found the same two companies were rated at the top - Through Eternity and Context Rome/Scala Reale. Both companies can provide multiple day services, as well as one day "immersion in Rome" private tours for people on cruises. Context Rome also can provide transfers from ship to hotel to airport, I think Through Eternity can too. Context Rome is on the pricy side, but every review I've seen says they are well worth it. That's my choice for our May trip, they have been very thorough, easy to deal with, and responsive. They have even arranged an "annotated Roman lunch" where a NY Times food author takes us through a local market and then to a typical Roman meal. Reviews I've seen have been on these boards, Frommer, Trip Advisor, and Rick Steves - and are all stellar.

I alerted the Moderator to this as soon as I spotted it. I hate to think of people spoofing up answers to pots. We all look for legitimate help when planning our vacation. All this poster has done is make me think that OK they may be a legitimate company, but I would now never ever book them.

please DON'T confuse it with limoinrome. Claudio has been recommended all throughout the CC boards and I have him booked for October. He has *most graciously* responded to the zillion questions I bombarded him with.

It looks like the moderator has responded as many of the posts have been deleted.

Also not to be confused with Bob who runs Romelimousines whom we used and were very pleased with in 2003.

Friends, a lot of the reason the moderator has deleted many posts is that there is a mechanism built into these boards for reporting such things...If you look to the top right corner of every entrym, there is a little symbol that looks like a "yield" sign with an "I" in it... When you see a post that is obviously "spam", click on that symbol and write a quick note to the moderators...they will respond by deleting it...
I've tried to do this with every avila or Tantan post I found today...If I missed one and you see it, please do the same...Let's rid these boards of folks like this...
But, just removing the references from this board isn't enough...What this guy has done is, basically, dishonest...I do not trust him...If we cannot trust him to be honest on this board, could you trust him to be honest if he quoted you a price on a tour? I, personally, will not do business with anyone who has demonstrated their dishonesty...If this "limo service" ever is made reference to on these boards again, I hope everyone will jump in and warn others NOT to deal with them...

I must correct myself from my earlier post..never do anything in a hurry...I meant to type Romalimo..not limoinrome..which is the one that has been on the boards. Here is a quote from one of Sando's clients from another board..
"Romalimo has consistently offered us topnotch service...with a smile. Much appreciated!"

I know this is so confusing, but please note the error in the above post. "Limoinrome" is a VERY reputable company with many fans and recommendations in here. The disreputable company who dumped spam in here is "Romeinlimo".
The funny thing is, this guy was obviously trying to drum up business, but what he ended up doing is insuring that probably hundreds of potential clients will never use him! If he'd gone about starting up a new service in a a reputable way, he probably would have done well, as I believe there is plenty of business. Well, in the famous words of Homer Simpson...DOH! ;)

Has anyone done any business with LimousInRome? Are they a good company?
I'm just looking for transfers- airport-hotel-port... not a tour. They seem to have better rates.

Tripadvisor has some posts re them: http://rome-hotels.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187791-Bob_s_Limo_Service-k92257-i22-Rome_Lazio.html
Just a word of caution though....read the posts carefully. There are at least a couple of endorsements for one company that seem a little suspicious, i.e. probably the same thing that happened on the CC boards....a new company trying to get started, creating fictitious members to recommend their own services. They may be good companies, but the reason we check these sites is for legitimate recommendations from customers who have used them. (I am not referring to limousinrome, but another company mentioned on page 2 of these posts.)
