I picked up my Cruise Atlas for 2012-2013 from my TA a couple of weeks ago after contacting HAL for some brochures for travel in Europe and Asia for 2012, which I have yet to receive. Yesterday I received a very glossy brochure from HAL listing all the wonderful things one can experience from sailing HAL. It's a fine introduction to HAL and its ambience, but why send such an expensive marketing tool to someone who has no need of an introduction to HAL? (I'm just a few days short of being a 4-star Mariner and will over the next six months be sailing with HAL for 75 days!)

I also received a brochure offering 40% off the fare on selected 2012 cruises. That one I liked since I spoke with my TA who was able to adjust the fare on a Collector's Cruise to Europe I'd already booked with her. Saved me several hundred dollars which I can put toward airfare back home from Rotterdam. That I appreciated!

I called HAL a couple of weeks ago when the discussion about the Cruise Atlas came up.

Haven't gotten anything to date yet.

Also -- our TA hasn't gotten anything either.

That is wonderful that you are getting 40% off a future cruise.

:mad:I'm still perplexed at why HAL is spending money on a glitzy publication that contains descriptions of life aboard HAL's ships...without any info about specific cruises...and sending it to Mariners. My Mariner number is right there above my name and address on the "form letter" enclosed with this well done, but unnecessary and wasteful mailing IMHO. Distribute it at "cruise fairs" to the uninitiated. That's where it belongs.
