Hello all,
This will be my very first cruise. I'm booked in B205. It's on the verandah deck (whatever that is), but, it's all the way in the back. Will I get seasick? Some people I've talked to say yes and some say no, but all suggested I post here. Any suggestions? Also, any tips about anything fun to see/do in Half Moon Cay, St. Thomas, St. Martin, Antigua or San Juan. .. . I've been so busy asking for advice about the boat that here 4 days out, I know NOTHING about these ports except that we signed up for a Kon Tiki cruise on one and a glass bottomed boat in Half Moon Cay. What am I missing?
Please, any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

far forward and far aft where you are, but that's relative to the seas and your equilibrium. Are you prone to motion disturbances? My oldest adult daughter has an inner ear problem. She sailed with us on our New Year's sailing on the Zaandam. She wore a patch for a few days and really had no problem except for coming out of Port canaveral, but, she didn't give herself the required 4 hours prior to sail time, she put it on late.
some motion sickness is due to the expectation of getting sea sick on a ship.
By all means, if you're worried about it, take along a few remedies like sea bands (WalMart) or the patch which you can get from your doctor. (Transderm al Scopolamine). The ship can give you Bonine, and there is ginger available outside the dining room.
If the seas are relatively calm you shouldn't have a problem. It's a gentle rocking motion, and it will rock you to sleep at night. The ships have stabilizers that keep motion to a minimum except in heavy seas common in the north Atlantic or Pacific.
Hope this helps,

Like you, I was very worried since I had gotten very queezy on a local harbor cruise. Everyone told me not to worry - since these huge cruise ships are so different. I was told that I wouldn't even know I was on a boat!
Not quite!!
BUT...it really wasn't bad.
We were way up front - and only on the main (2nd) level - in a large inside stateroom. The first night I felt the motion a lot so I took 1 of the "less drowsy" dramamines I brought along. An hour later, I was not quite sick...but certainly feeling the motion, so I took a 2nd pill. (The water was reported as moderate (4.5 - 7 foot waves). The 2nd pill seemed to do the trick. I ended up taking 1 pill every night at supper (even if I felt fine) and never had another problem. And we had some times with "rough" waters which were waves btw. 7.5 -15 feet. We couldn't always walk straight down the hall to our cabin...but I never felt sick!
I'm sure you'll be fine! Have fun!!
