Does anyone have a review of these two rooms? We just got our room assignments and got these (from a guarantee).

The ship layout has 'something' across the hall from them, but I'm not sure what the are. Some look like rooms (closets/access/supplies) but there is a BIG 'something just behind them. Does anyone have any idea what it might be?

The seem pretty good, rooms the floor above and below, so noise shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I appreciate any info ya'll might have!
Thanks!

There are doors there for the crew to use steps to get from one deck to another.

Appears that there is also a storage area there where the crew keeps their supplies to do the cabins.

Biggest white area is also crew area.

The other potential issue is the large white space behind all the little ones. This is the exhaust system from the engine room up to the stacks. I have found that the hallways in this area are very warm/hot. I don't know if this impacts cabins in this area. You might also get some engineering rumble in this area, again because of the engine exhaust system, but you may be are enough forward that this will not be an issue.

I had thought that the smaller rooms were for the crew...storage etc, but wondered what that BIG white area was. If it is the exhaust it may have some noise (rumble, hum) to it. I can also see how the hallway might be warm, but hopefully the room’s AC will work well enough to keep us comfortable.

Anyone else have ideas??

We were in Veendam DA642 on the South America/Antartica trip in January 2011.

We could see small crew work rooms across the corridor, but there was never any disruptive noise from them,
just friendly smiles from housekeeping staff.

I have no idea what the large white space is, perhaps some galley space? A couple of times we'd get a whiff of hot food (a clue to the dinner menu!), while walking the hallway, but nothing in our cabin.

I don't remember hallways being warm; we had no climate control issues in our cabin.

It was great being near the stairs/elevator and even better going to the end of the corridor and up the "hidden" stairs to the rear promenade deck - one of our favorite locations for the hours we spent on deck.

CCers are the GREATEST! Leave it to ya'll to know just about everything!

I'm going to relax about our room assignment and just know that where ever we are, we're on a cruise and that's all that really matters!

Thanks to everyone who posted (or will.....still wanna hear from you guys!!)

I'll update this when we return and let you know what that big white blob is!!

We were in one of the DA cabins right across from the "big white space," I think it was 639. We had no issues with noise or heat in the cabin. The hallway wasn't warm along there, either. Actually, you actually don't have cabns above you. Most of your cabin is under the promenade deck. But don't worry, we never had noise issues with the promenade deck above us. I think you got good cabins.

I'll update this when we return and let you know what that big white blob is!!Part (but not all) of it is smokestacks, as gregdude said. Look at the same area on all decks above Main and you'll see how much the stacks take up.

We had a room on the Amsterdam that was similarly positioned near the smokestack shaft, and had no noise or heat from it.

I did look at the ship as a 'whole' and did notice that the white space seemed to go all the way up in about the same place.

Smoke stack makes the most sense to me right now, but as others have said not to worry, I won't! Besides, how much time am I REALLY going to spend in there!?!?!? :p
