Now that my plans for Hawaii in Oct have been scrapped, I've been doing a list of 'pros and cons' to sail to Mexico again.
But, I haven't given up hope just yet.....

Noticed there's a Hawaii cruise in Dec on the Amsterdam, at a very nice price! (7Dec2005) Been shopping around, and found the temptation too hard to resist!

But, after reading about everyones adventures in the Sea of Cortez, I'm also leaning towards that end of the Pacific.
So for now, I'm focusing on the Hawaii cruise. Even if I HAVE to do it again next year on the Zaandam! :)

My original plan was to celebrate my birthday this Oct on the Statendam trip. Guess I'll have to wait til next year.....

I think Hawaii 2 years in a row can't be that bad ..... I know a few who always book a WB crossing on QE2 every year, and they never complain. So I'll be shopping for a new grass skirt!
(Thanks Ziggy .... but I'm not shaving my legs!)

:)

Oh yea .....

This all depends on scheduling issues. I won't be holding my breath, but my decision will be all set by the end of next week.

Guess this is one of the fun parts of planning .... going around conflicts. (Rita, welcome to the club!)

I'll climb in the misery bucket with you. I had to scrap 4 possibilites for 2006 that my TA already had a courtesy hold on.

That's business for you, DH won't leave a new business venture for longer than 14 days next year.

There is this 30 day Hawaii and South Pacific on the Amsterdam in January 2006, oh well
Maybe he'll reconsider when we're on the Maasdam this summer.
There's always Alaska.....

My DW has nixed two plans I had - South America in December this year and Auckland-Sydney in January. I've got high hopes for the Baltic in summer '06, though....

Vic - Hawaii! Hands down. Mexico will usually always be a bargain- if you can get a good deal on Hawaii, I'd take that - plus look at all those days at sea!

We are also looking at what to do in 2006... we want to take the kids to Europe during the summer, but not necessarily do the Baltic again.

I really want to try something different - maybe a bit longer.

Decisions decisions decisions! :)
I'm sitting here, sobbing into my coffee, that I've still got to wait 8 months until I board another dam ship!!!!! :D hehehehe

2006 I'll be on that cruise on the Zaandam to Hawaii with you. Trying to swing that as a Chaplain, but I'm not holding my breath. Those cruises are VERY popular among the chaplain base.

Otherwise, it looks like Christopher and I will be in Europe in the Summer of 2006 ... Baltic cruise or Med, I cannot say. Getting him to decide early on Cruises is like trying to get Hyacinth Bucket to make a decision on what kind of hat she's gong to wear to a reception with "Mrs. Councilor Neugent." :) Worse, in fact.

Oh, well .... I had had hopes of Asia next Spring -- pre-Easter -- but he said no. Too close in time to our b2b on the Westerdam this Fall. GRRRR ... there is NO SUCH THING as "too close in time" when it comes to cruising! :D

SO ... I'll be on a dam ship in Europe in July or August of 06, then on the Zaandam to Hawaii in October 06. Think I can schedule another cruise for Jan 06?????? Hmmmmm :) Research time!

I like the Copenhagen-Rome itinerary (http://crm.hollandamerica.com/broadbaseema/ha4009/europe/sep18.htm) that's being offered on the Westerdam this fall, but it doesn't seem to be on the schedule for 2006 :(

dave -

That looks pretty good! Too bad it's not on the 2006 schedule.

I have gone over the 2006 planner and haven't really seen anything on the dates I need that jumps out at me. I think we actually enjoyed the Med a bit more than the Baltic, though both were outstanding... and I would do either again in a heart beat.

Let's keeping looking. ;) Maybe we can get a few of us together for the same cruise...

I'm looking at the Prinsendam's June 24, '06 Baltic cruise but DW has mentioned Windstar in the western Med...

Or a B2B, Eastern & Western Med on the Noordam... :)

This hasn't been an easy decision.

I'll be playing it by ear for a week.
(Maybe if I rent some Elvis flicks, it'll put me in the
Hawaii mood......)

Vic, did Hawaii last Nov. Loved the extra Sea Days! If its a great deal, Go for it. What happened to your "old" grass skirt? Any pictures you want to share?? :D

We want to do the Med. next year, but was thinking early Sept. Does it make much difference weather wise?

Hey Rita

I've never done the Med. One of my goals!
I've heard that Sept is usually rainy over there. That's why cruise lines run these 'sales'.

You'd luck out in Oct or afterwards.

Oh yea.....

My old grass skirt vanished after a Jimmy Buffett concert.
I'll get the replacement before my next trip!

Vic

Why do so many people seem to go in the summer months, is that a rainy time also?

Hey regarding your Hawaii/Mexico decision: I just got this picture in my mind of you in a grass skirt wearing a Sombero!

I'm not really sure of the summer months. I'm betting it's like
SoCal ... rain, dry, then more dry.

A grass skirt, and a sombrero..... would make an interesting Halloween costume!
