Our Regent cruise next spring has a stop in San Diego, and I'd like to invite a friend who lives there on board for a meal or a drink while we are in port. Not sure if she's interested:) but am curious about Regent policy concerning non passengers on board.

Thanks in advance!

Regent is usually happy to welcome guests on board. The best approach is to alert your travel agent in advance and have him/her secure advance approval. We invited friends in Rio aboard for drinks and dinner a couple of years ago. My partner was a guest for both lunch and dinner aboard the Navigator in Victoria, B.C. a year ago too.

As Island Cruiser mentioned, contact your TA. There is a form that needs to be filled out that will include: your name, booking number, sailing date, stateroom number, date of visit, port of the visit and the visitors' name, driver licence or passport number and their date of birth.
They ask that it be faxed back at least 30 days prior to departure.

Thank you! I contacted her today and she is living in Little Italy, close to the terminal. Will contact our TA for assistance.

I brought my son aboard for the who day last year in Manilla. A bit hectic, since there were so many crew families boarding. It was great! There were related glitches, but in SanDiego there should be none, but remember the 30 day window they request.

Last January when Mariner called at Guatemala I brought on board 11 members of the Antigua Lions Club for a meeting of Lions members. I was more than 30 days out when I made my request known to Regent and they had approved the visitation. I had to provide names, birth dates, and certain ID numbers from whatever my guests had available.

Regent headquarters replied to my request with great speed and stated their support for our two person vision mission to Guatemala. They wanted to be a part of the effort. They offered to host a champagne meeting/party in the 12th deck lounge and to provide lunch if we desired.

My wife and I are Lions members in Loomis, California, and we had carried in our luggage more than 600 free eyeglasses to contribute to several pending eye clinics for villagers then being planned by the Antigua Lions. We had done this 600 eyeglass delivery venture once before with Holland America when we were in Panama.

The next time you donate your used eyeglasses to your local Lions Club you will know the glasses are going to be worn again by some vision impaired villager in a foreign place.

You can see my web page display of the Guatemala delivery right here: http://awesome.webplus.net/Eyeglasses/index.html

See you on board. Lion Jack Morris

I am curious as to what Regent ship is docking in San Diego and when??? My husband and I just booked our first cruise to Alaska (June 2012), on the Navigator.

We would love to see the ship when it docks here in San Diego.:)

We will be on the Navigator and the itinerary has the ship in San Diego on Sunday, April 29th from 1-8 PM. Close to your cruise date!

I am new to Regent and I didn't know that this was possible. When a passenger invites someone as his/her guest to have drinks and meals on the ship, does Regent charge for the consumption of the guest? How is this done?

The only time we've invited guests on board for drinks and dinner we were quoted a flat fee. I don't remember how much but it was quite reasonable. BUT the charge never appeared on our bill. So the guests were free. BUT we were in a Master Suite on that sailing so that might have made a difference.

We had 3 guests onboard to see us off. We were told they could have lunch with us and we would have our shipboard account billed something like $12 or $15pp. They had to wear Visitor badges, so it was clear they were not cruise passengers. When we boarded, the only place they were serving lunch that day was at the Pool Grill, we hadn't figured out the ordering process yet and it was very, very busy that day, so not sure we could've ordered anything or not anyway. We all just ate off the cold buffet and sat at a table by the pool. We did order drinks from a waiter. We were never billed for our guests' lunch either.

Our friends just got their invite approved in less than a week for Navigator in SFO Sept 12. So I guess the 30 day notice rule is history.
