We are looking to book a large family cruise for a week in Oct. My last few cruises have been on HML and enjoyed it. We looked at Carnivale and found they have a area called Serenity on the newer ships. Its an adult only area with nice chairs in the sun as well as in the shade. I love sitting outside but really can't take alot of sun. It sounds very nice and I have read reviews and everyone loved it. On my last 2 HML cruises I booked a cabana and it was the best part of the cruise but I also paid extra for it. I know HML has an adult only pool but I am surpised they don't have an area like serenity. They also have new menus in the dinning rooms....they have a new section called things you always wanted to try but didn't. They have different things there like frog legs...LOL. I think we are going to go Carnivale this time.

Mary,
I'm confused.
What is HML? I notice you write it several times so it doesn't seem to be a typo.

:D Why didn't I think of that?
The frogs legs on the menu confused me. I haven't seen that on HAL menus..... or a section 'things you want to try'...

Mary, Can you clarify what you are talking about in the underlined areas ?
Do you mean HML=Holland America Line (I call it HAL)
Who has a new section? Carnival or HAL?
Did you mean to ask these question on the HAL Board or on Carnival?
Are you asking what we think of these because you want our opinions if Carnival is better or?? I am a bit confused and want to help but...

Sorry guys....I meant HAL...not HML.....The new menu for the dinning room is on Carnivale....they have a new section on the menu called things you always wanted to try but were afraid to....thats where the frog legs are. Don't think I can do the frog legs but it is interesting. Carnival now allows you to bring one 12 pack of soda per person. I thought it was funny when I heard that new way people are trying to get beer on board was to take a 12 pack of soda and carefully open one end and replace 10 of the 12 cans with beer. Leave one can of soda at each end in case someone opens it. Then glue the end back together.

diamondgirl,
Thank you for returning and your explanation.
I really do not understand this obsession some cruisers have with smuggling alcohol on board the ships.

Who in the world would go to such extremes to get a can of beer on the ship? That's plain crazy IMO
What do they save by all those antics? $5.00 ???????
I'd far rather save a few more weeks and be able to afford my cruise but that's just me.
