View Full Version : I have "Short Timer's Disease"
LAFFNVEGAS

I have a really bad case of Short Timer's Disease, the systems are not wanting to do anything at work, spending more and more time in the HAL board. Actually going to web sites like Weather.com to check the 10 and 14 day forecasts. Driving fellow employees nuts with my constant talking about the cruise. Then to make matters worse a fellow employee who boarded the Westerdam yesterday called me to "Rub It In" that he was already on board the ship at 9:01 my time.
Fortuantely this disease does have a cure and I will get some relief when we board the plane on Saturday but won't be totally cured till Sunday about Noon Eastern Standard Time:p The bad part is I hear that come the following week I mostly likely will have "Back from cruise disease" I understand the only cure for that is to get ready for another cruise which will be in July and October. Although these sytems won't be too bad since before that July cruise DH and I get to go to Maui in May for 5 days for a trip I won thru work.
Ya know I think I am one Sick Puppy:eek: Luckily I have found all of you to be one great Support Group for this illness. Thanks:)

Lisa--
It doesn't end when you get off the boat either.
I'm beginning to feel that this is a terminal illness...
I just wish someone would tell my inner-ear that the cruise is over - my desk keeps moving underneath me....
Only 6 months 'till Alaska (sigh)

I believe your disease must be contagious because my family and I have it too! We don't leave until next Wednesday and it's hard to focus on the tasks at hand. :) Happy sailing to you.

This sounds like me too.
I joke with my friends and say "Don't hate me cause I'm crusin" LOL Sooner or later this will have to get old to them.
I'm not sure I won't go into CC withdraw while on my cruise next month. It is the journey to my destination or the destination that I enjoy most? I'm not sure.

As your doctor I prescribe one dose of volcano cake followed by bread pudding, once a day for seven days. Plese send me my customary fee via paypal.

Since you aren't going to get any work done, and you will drive your co-workers crazy - give up, call the airline and fly out RIGHT NOW. Then go to the pier and watch for the ship to come in...

We are taking our first ever cruise in June. I spend nearly every waking minute on here looking up all sorts of stuff! I cannot seem to help myself! My DH will probably leave me before we ever get to go!!! He will at least forget what I look like, all he sees is the back of me sitting at the computer!!!!! HELP, June is still
months away!!!!!
Dave, that is a beautiful picture!!!!!!!
Where did you take it?

Lisa, I know what you mean. I'll have it in about another 6 weeks. Anything I can take to minimize the symptoms?
Brian, new pic, huh? Where was it taken?

According to Dr Ruth(C), you must take two doses of chocolate four times a day until sailing.
Then, you must plan another---longer---voyage next time.
Remember---the "terminal" part of the illness is the embarkation terminal!
Have a good cruise.

Lisa-I was just thinking about you and Tom this morning and how excited you both must be! After you return you can help against the follow-on syndrome by getting all your photos done and setting up another dinner with us and Jim and Donna! Have a great time! :)

Unfortunately, I did not snap the picture - just found it (http://jfulton50.smugmug.com/gallery/24307/1/835893). It's sunRISE over the Atlantic.
I'll bet Brian changed pictures because this one shows more hair! :)

Hi Laura
I believe they have medication for that.

everything......

Lisa,
I am with you.:) ..all I do is read the board and talk about the cruise, luckily I work with a lot of people so I can spread my converstions out, and a few are going on cruises in the next few weeks any way so that helps.:D
As excited as I am a I am getting nervous about getting everything done, will be happy when I am in FLL waiting to board the ship:)

I'm suffering from this one as well... and I admit it - I have the weather.com web pages for the 10-day forecasts for Titusville, Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and MoBay in my favorites folder so I can bring them up several times a day... heaven forbid the weather change and I be unaware!!
I also work at my computer all day, so I'm over here much more than I should be... especially this week!! They really should give us all the week BEFORE we cruise off with pay too... don't you think??? Don't they know my brain is already sailing??
Brian - I get this EVERY TIME I CRUISE! I never get sea sick, but I rock back and forth in front of my computer screen for about 3 days after I get home. My doctor told me to just take the Bonine when I get home! LOL!
TinaLee :) (4 days, 9 hours, 37 minutes, 3, 2, 1 seconds until Zaandam)

Localady,
A margarita on the verandah sounds wonderful. I am not sure I can wait another week. I wish we were leaving this Saturday.
