Hi

We just returned from Bermuda and so want to go back!!! We had a veranda room, but I was wondering how are the lanai rooms? Do you have an unobstructed view? Is it noisy?

Thanks

Mary Ann

Lanai cabins are considerably smaller than Veendam's Veranda cabins.

The view from inside the cabin is unobstructed, but across the width of the promenade. We do not find Lower Promenade cabins noisy unless you are under the galley.

Mary Ann, I have photos from CC members of some of the Lanai Staterooms, which include the views from them and comments about them here: http://joanjett2000.topcities.com/HAL/Veendam/Deck-6.html

The lani cabins are smaller. Plus you have people walking by your lani.

Having your own verandah or balcony is much better -- more private!!

Totally disagree with the previous poster. Lanai cabins are great, quiet, much better socialization with passengers on either side of your cabin. Verandah cabins are a study in isolation! Verandah cabins may be larger, but the comparable cost makes the Lanai a fantastic value: same view, same chairs, mid ship, and entertainment walking by your chairs all day long! You don't even need a TV if you have a Lanai cabin!!!

Gotta go with Gregdude on this one. Have 2 cruises in a Lanai cabin
and loved every minute. It is a unique experience, especially if you enjoy socializing with some of your fellow passengers. On the other hand, DW and I can't swing for a Verandah on HAL so this is a great compromise for us. Best of both worlds.

I do have multiple experiences on other lines with a balcony cabin and have to agree that being able to sit on your private balcony watching the ocean at night has a certain serenity about it. And you don't have to be as particular with what you are wearing.

All in all hard to go wrong either way. You're on a cruise, right?

Loved loved loved our lanai cabin on a 21 day SA cruise on the Veendam. Just slid the sliding patio door open and out to the lanai deck, sat on our own comfy mahogany deck chair right at wateredge nearly and watched the rest of the world go by. In hog heaven. Love love love Holland. Total R & R

Totally agree with NordicPrince and Greg. We had a lanai on the Veendam for the Amazon cruise that Greg was also on. We found the lanai not too much smaller than a regular verandah and got used to the size once we adjusted to the mini couch. Felt the view was better than with verandah and the easy socializing a real plus.
