The "Pacific Ring" has had a good bit of activity recently. We tend to forget that Alaska is included in that ring of volcanoes and fault lines. Glad this was just a minor one.

It's almost a year since the first earthquake in Christchurch, we are continuing to experience aftershocks, there have been several today, one of 4.7 magnitude this afternoon. Gave buildings a good jolt.

There are lots of earthquakes there. I did not feel any when we went to Alaska.

That is a pretty good jolt.

I know Alaska is on an a fault.

So far with all the many Alaskan cruises that we have done -- we have never felt even a tiny tremor there.

Geocruiser,
Thanks for this site! I am teaching Social Studies this year... including the ring of fire... and our area felt the Virginia quake last week. (We've been out of school three days due to Irene's damage, but I've added this link to my students' "Interesting Links" list on my website for them.)

Also, off topic, but thank you for the recipe for Spinach and Ravioli that you added long ago to the "depression era foods" thread. DH and I have it often now since it's so quick to fix! It's good, too. Of course, I cheat and use frozen ravioli since I'm not Italian, so I don't make my own pasta. Still delicious!

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest you just kind of get used to the occasional little shake and rumble. We probably had more little quakes than we had thunder and lightning storms. :)

On the pasta dish.

You can also do the same dish using Spinach fettucini or spinach spaghetti. It also so comes out great!

We only went to Alaska once. But on a 14 night cruise dd not feel any. I thought of the quakes while taking the cruise. I was happy that we did not feel any. I really thought of it when we were in Valdez Alaska

Here is their main web page. Don't know if you found the link from the other page.
