Hi. Im going on the 14-Day Asia Explorer cruise on the ms Zaandam (Holland America) and one of the stops is Halong Bay in Vietnam. I am wondering how much of Halong Bay I will see just from the ship. Do I have to take a shore excursion that will cruise in the bay or will I see lots of Halong Bay right from the ship?

I would prefer to take one of the shore excursions that that go inland a little more but I really want to see Halong Bay also and am hopeing the ship cruises through Halong Bay on the way to get there and maybe anchors in the bay.

Does anyone have any information? Thanks
