This upcoming cruise we are flying into Ft. Lauderdale using HALs air and transfers. I would like to bring some wine (don't mind paying corkage fees), is there any place close to the airport to buy some wine?

We still don't have our air arangements but was thinking if we got in early enough we might be able to take a taxi or walk to a near by store.

If that is not possible what is the best way to bring wine with us on the airplane? Will shipping wine on the airplane cause any stir w/ TSA or an airline?

Will there be a cork screw in the room or do we need to bring one?

So many questions and so little time...

I think it all depends on how many bottles you're talking about. We always bring a couple bottles of our favorite champagne, and I just bring it in my carryon bag from home. If you're thinking of six or eight or more bottles, suddenly it becomes unmanageable to carry it with you from home. People fly with wine all the time. In two or four-bottle boxes, and in my case, nestled between my change of clothes in my tote! TSA doesn't have any problem that I've ever seen.

Unfortunately I don't know of any wine stores near the airport or pier, but if there are any, someone on this board will know!

As for corkscrews, I don't recall if we had to request it or if it was already in the cabin, but we had one on both of our past HAL cruises (S-cat Zuiderdam and mini-suite Maasdam).
