We're doing the trans-Panama Canal on the Veendam come April 16. Last year, on Celebrity's Summit, we were able to use the computer lab to download, edit and burn our digital pictures onto a CD for a modest charge. there was also a course on how to use Adobe Photo-Shop if you wanted to take it, also for a modest charge (about $20, as I remember) Does any know if HAL offers these services on the Veendam and/or other ships? If so, is there a charge?

There's an internet cafe, but no computer lab (no classes, etc.). Details are here (http://www.mtnsat.com/ds_kbyg_hal.htm).There are no facilities for burning CDs (or even saving to floppies) nor is there software applications available (outside of an internet browser). For anything else, you'll need to bring your own equipment along.

Thanks Dave
Obviously Celebrity has one leg up on HAL on this one (so to speak). Let's hope it is added in the future!

Ah, but Celebrity doesn't have wireless coverage - or any other option for plugging in your own equipment.

I don't want to bring my laptop with me. My DW would have my neck! All I want to do is save my pictures without having to buy another chip! C'mon HAL!

Hello All!
Has anyone had experience with the laptop rentals that they offer on the ship?
Thanks!

Maybe the photo gallery has facilities for burning your photos to a CD? That would free up your memory chip. I know Princess offered that service aboard the Sun. I can't remember the price, but I know it was reasonable.

<smacking side of head> You're absolutely right, Rita, I believe the photo lab does offer this service, although I don't remember the cost.

There are no facilities on board to download your own chip...However, the Photo Gallery does provide this service..I recently had them burn a CD from my camera memory card. Cost was $14.99 USA. Hope this helps. They were very efficient.

Thanks Diesel. That sounds like a do-able option.
