Do you hear your neighbour through the interconnecting door? What part of the cabin space do you lose with the door, the closet?

We have not really heard anything through the connecting doors - there are actually two doors and a little empty space between them so it is quite insulated.
Here are pictures of a VD cabin on the Eurodam on deck 4 (same layout as VD on the Zuiderdam that we were in) and I am sure fairly similar to a VF cabin on deck 5 (we had friends in a VE on Deck 5). Only wall space is lost.
