I believe we have decided to sail to Alaska on the Zuiderdam. It sails out of Vancouver, which I had hoped for, and goes to Glacier Bay.

Now I need help with picking a Verandah room. I have no idea what deck and if we want to be mid-ship, VF, VB, VC, etc.

Right now, I am looking at VB6038 (toward the bow on port side). Any help would be appreciated!

Look at Joanies Sticky at the top of the board entitled "Photos of Cabins and Staterooms" for lots of info, some pics and so on.

I have never sailed any of HAL ships, however, am considering the Zuid R/T Vancouver in 2013. I,too, am not sure of what cabin. I do want a balcony and would love the Deluxe or Superior, however, they may be just too expensive for us. Do visit the recommended web site, Joanie has put so much work and effort into this data.

I do prefer the port side. We have cruised Alaska five times, all on Princess. The first two times we were in insides, the last three we had AD mini suites on the port side. We like the last AD on Emerald at the aft. Not sure what this would compart to on the Zuid.

The ship will turn around in Glacier Bay so the starboard gets a good view too, but I still prefer the port.

When I was deciding on my V cabin on the sister ship Westerdam I settled on cabin 4164, it's a VD cabin. On Deck four the verandas are wider and in that and the adjacent cabin they are double the length for much more personal space. VD and VB are identical on the inside.

Since then I have given up that cabin for an SZ gty for slightly more, but take a look at those two cabins - they offer some extra value if you want more balcony for the buck.

Thanks for your replies! My TA has gotten us a great deal on VB 6038, so I think we will book that one. It is port facing. I appreciate ya'lls time!
